I need some help testing out a new server machine. If you are technically minded and have 10 minutes, I could use your help.

How to help:

Step 1) Edit your hosts file

Code:

Start > Run > "%Systemroot%\System32\Drivers\Etc\hosts" (enter key) > Open With: Notepad

In this file, add a few lines at the end and this:

Code:

208.78.101.101    bf2s.com

Step 2) Restart (completely close down) your browser of choice (Clearing your cache would be a good idea too...)

Step 3) Browse to BF2S.com and any url which is under the main domain

For example: wiki.bf2s.com will still be on the current server, but a page at bf2s.com/wiki would be on the new one we're testing.

Specific pages which should be tested for speed, etc:

- Homepage
- Player Profiles
- Ranking Pages
- My Leaderboard

That's pretty much the bulk of BF2S.com's actual content.

ooo, I remember we did this when the switch to gibson was made.

I don't know if FireFox is slow because I'm converting a movie file, or if it is because what you told me to do, but:

BF2s Homepage loads fast: 0.0050 seconds
Player Profiles are a tad slow, but again, it could be from me converting a movie. (Sorry if this ruins any test results you want to gather Chuy)
Ranking Pages are quick.
My Leaderboard only has one player (myself) and it loads fast.

Another thing to check for -- see if your player profile updates and is accurate.

Besides the homepage being rearranged, everything is as it is "here".

Oh no wait, "Hours Per Day" on Rankings is missing.

Alright i did it, but the example in your OP you gave of bf2s.com/wiki/ gives a 404 error.

If im doing everything right by just checking the other stuff which ends up ___.bf2s.com ill keep doing it =]

Loads pretty fast.
As I said on IRC (where you didn't answer): "do you think that test is representative? there are less ppl using the testserver. its loading faster anyway. nothing broken yet"

Belze: you shouldn't be seeing the homepage with that image on it now. In fact, that particular image was moved to the static server as part of this upgrade.

Mitch: Yes, that error was an example. But no, you need to check pages which use JUST the "bf2s.com" as the portion between http:// and the next first / -- the subdomains (wiki, ubar, forums, etc) have not changed.
