Its the 40th anniversairy of My Lai as well, Its strange how Haditha recieved so little coverage in comparsion but I suppose a lot less people died.

It sickens me how people can do that but you can only imagine the stress they're under. This line of the investigation of My Lai sort of haunted me
its probably relevent on some level to Haditha as well.

Although they did talk about how the civilians are in the middle - how they can't grass on the insurgents or they're dead etc... but it was definitely biased towards the insurgents

You could tell they were trying to get loads of messages across, like when one of the insurgents was saying how he wouldn't be doing this if they didn't disband the Iraqi army after they were defeated in the initial war etc..

The "trailer" I watched was basically a 5 minute recap of the entire movie.  Shitty acting, shitty dialogue, Americans looked like monsters, insurgents looked like heroes.....

I've got nothing wrong with movies like Full Metal Jacket and Platoon... they show that in war we aren't always the knights in shinning armor, but at the same time are not anti-American.

But this movie... just looks like bullshit propaganda.  On the wikipedia page it says the director basically let the actors say stuff on the fly, no written scripts or anything.  Pathetic, really.....

They should make the beheading videos required viewing by the Hollywood set.  They should show how women get 'stoned' for BS reasons like getting gangraped, flogged for sitting next to a man who isn't a family member, burned with acid for refusing a male's advances.  They should show what islamists do to POWs and compare with how 'horrible' guantanimo bay is or abu grahib.  How about showing more of the religious schools where the kids act like zombies swaying back and forth all day praying and committing the koran to memory.  is this fahrenheit 451?  for that matter, just illustrate all the priviledges we hold dear and how they would be revoked or trodden upon under sharia law (especially for women and non-muslims). 

the libs need to get a reality check.

Jesus, I'm aware it was propoganda, but the way you act it's like America never does shit like this. Pretty much every god damn war film made by America is biased. Why do you think all the fuckers think they won WW2 single handedly.

Well, actually, they also showed an interview with one of the Iraqi hostages, that was taken by the insurgent, and he was telling his story and they forced him to see how they chop someone's head and how they done pretty fucked up stuff to him. So, I wouldn't say, C4 is against the Americans.
They also, showed how one of the marines was cut in half. They clearly want to give an idea on both sides.

The montage of the film was pretty bad, and the translation was worst. But, surely there are certain points that could be linked to reality.

There is another program today btw at 10:30 on BBC 2, if anyone interested.

I thought it was  decent enough for a TV movie tbh.. The USMC were just portrayed like we see Marines behaving in You Tube clips all the time, so i'd say that was fair and accurate. As was no doubt the struggle of the Corporal in the USMC dealing with the whole situation & the indifference of his Superior officers to his plight. So no point in taking the hump about that imo.  The insurgents are almost comical in their portrayal,  like an Islamic Laurel and hardy, bordering on the incompetent, yet still devastated by the consequences of their actions, they just wanted the US out of IRAQ, & they are afraid of the foreign Al Querida operatives in the area wanting to Radical Islamicise Haditha and view them as wing nuts - very valid too. As for  the civilians? They're just trying to live a "normal" life surrounded by bedlam.  All in all, yeah it's a bit clichéd,, but not the worst show eva. 6/10
