I don't like breaking the law.  I have a full time job, I can afford to pay someone for their work.  People who pirate stuff are the people who ruin the internet.

Anyway, that's off topic.  Thanks for the input, it's what I needed to pull the trigger and buy it.  I had been debating it since last summer.

You are admitting that you break the law.  I mean it's cut and dry, pirating non-free software or obtaining it with paying for it, is illegal.  Why would I want to break the law?

Anyway, sorry, this isn't what this thread is about.  I'll stop that conversation now.

Some people think they are entitled to everything.

Unfortunatly you can't learn the trade without using the software and you can't fork out $1000+ for the software packs until you're working, vicious circle that can only be broken by piracy or Adobe miraculously becoming a charity, sad fact is that a lot of people who are now regarded quite highly in graphic design will probably have started out with dodgy software.

I think that it should be sufficient if professional designers pay for that software. If I pursue web design and graphic design, I will buy the products. However, for now, I'm getting to know different types of coding, and trying to learn some techniques etc

I think professional designers HAVE to pay for it.

If they don't, they'll get caught eventually.

It's through a software dealer the University of Minnesota uses for student and faculty software purchases.
I was wondering if they would also work with my school.

Here's the site I used:

http://www.usc-umn.com/

There are other sites that sell software for education prices.  Some sites it doesn't matter what school you go to, you just have to provide proof that you are indeed enrolled and that it meets some requirements like you are going for an actual degree and stuff.  With this site, as long as I login, it knows I'm a student at the U of M.  Just search around for like Student software pricing or something.

Wow, so I got the Production Premium suite installed and Premiere Pro is WAY different than the Elements version.  I have a lot of work to do to learn how to use these programs.  It's a little intimidating.
