So I can get Adobe Production Premium CS3 for about $300 through school.  I like to make Bf2 movies and I would love to learn more about doing graphics stuff and video stuff.  I currently use Adobe Premiere Elements 4 for making videos and I've been getting better at it, but I'm very curious about the full blown program and the other programs like After Effects.  Production Premium has these programs included:

Photoshop CS3 Extended
Illustrator CS3
Flash CS3
Professional After Effects CS3
Professional Premiere Pro CS3
Soundbooth CS3
Encore CS3
OnLocation Ultra CS3
Bridge CS3
Device Central CS3
Dynamic Link Stock Photos Acrobat Connect

I think it's a $1,600 software suite.  So with my amateur skills right now, should I get this package simply because it's such a good deal?  I'd like to learn these, just wondering if I would be wasting my money if I don't use these things all the time, just more to experiment and stuff.

Thanks for the input.

It's a good program to learn to use.

I got it and learned how to use it quite effectively. I'm glad I did.

I say go for it, especially since it's cheaper than normal.

If it's a legal purcase of original software at that price, it's a bargin.  Go get it.  It increases your knowledge, it's great for your resume to master those skills, and it's probably fun alone the way.

Yeah, it's legitimate.  It's through a software dealer the University of Minnesota uses for student and faculty software purchases.  I've bought Adobe Acrobat 8 from them for about $90 and MathCAD through them for like $115 ($900 retail).  All the software is under student license, but they are the full blown programs, just assumed that you won't use them for commercial use.  They ship you the retail packaging of the software and everything.  It looks just as though you would have bought it retail.

I know it's an incredible deal, I just wanted to make sure that seeing as how I really have no training in them at this point, that I wouldn't be throwing my money away.  I probably should do it just because they probably would be handy if I ever needed to do something with them sometime.  I've heard After Effects is pretty cool.  I'm just concerned that learning these huge programs will be too intimidating or difficult.

It's a good deal, were I not already using CS3 Master Collection I'd go for it.

All of them are easy to pick up, especially After Effects, head over to videocopilot.net and do some of the tutorials, you'll be making your own stuff in a few hours.

Breaking the law is so . . . stupid.  I actually like to pay for things I like.  If it's worth downloading illegally, it's worth paying for.

Anyway, I can get the full Master Collection for $500.  More than I want to spend, especially since I really don't need the website development stuff.

I'll probably get the Production Premium while I still can.  I'm really interested in the Premium Pro video editing software and After Effects.

Buy it if you plan on using it for stuff like "home-made studios."

If it's just for personal use, I'd go with Ryan's suggestion.

Get it! It's the Student Edition. I had the CS3 Design Premium for 10% of the original cost. Never regretted spending those 150 euro's.

Back when I used Photoshop more often, I would've gladly paid for it had the price not been so astronomically high.

Yeah, I finally broke down and bought it.  I had been looking at it since last summer.  It should be the full thing, just a license agreement that says I can't use it for commercial uses.  Should be pretty cool.  Now I'll just have to learn how to use all that stuff, haha.

I don't like breaking the law.  I have a full time job, I can afford to pay someone for their work.  People who pirate stuff are the people who ruin the internet.

Anyway, that's off topic.  Thanks for the input, it's what I needed to pull the trigger and buy it.  I had been debating it since last summer.
