I'm certain the SAS would only be able to kill a few indeed. having so many soldiers on the USMC side, they can move in several groups which still consist of alot of men, when the enemy is spotted all you have to do is spray fire towards that direction, in a wooded area this is extremely effective. you don't need to hit, all the splinters and pieces of wood flying around will subdue the SAS soldiers easily.

as for the main idea, yes the SAS would be able to kill some, be they would be overall defeated, sticking 186,000 marines in the burmese jungle and they're bound to run into some of them.

SAS are good, but they're not the ultimate super fighting force they are sometimes portrayed as, they're regular soldiers put through extended training programs etc to push mental and physical toughness, Marines do similar exercises. So in terms of manpower, overall firepower of the USMC I think that outweighs the SAS skills. SAS vs USMC is much different to SAS vs Untrained Guerrilas in Sierra Leone or the hostage takers of the Iranian Embassy.

I think the SAS might not get beaten, but they would never actually win against the WHOLE of the USMC. Also, if SAS made some mistakes, or got unlucky, then USMC would wipe them out.
