So what's the point in having all these guns? Just to say you have them, is it a hobby, for hunting, or do you just go to the range and shoot off a few rounds? I don't see the point in owning more than 2-3 guns...
WTF Ty - a .303 for rabbits and possums????? Isnt that a tad overkill? (unless its a typo)Ty wrote:
I own a .22. It's actually my dads. It's an old russian one but it has an awesome open sight. I hope to buy myself a .22 in the future, and a .303 for hunting rabbits, possums, and the .303 for deer and wild pigs.
In New Zealand, owning a gun is a privilage, not a right like in the US. You have to get a licence to be able to buy anything - unless your over 18, (me, but I have a licence,) then you can buy airguns, BB guns and paintball guns.
Funny story, my cousins, (one 16, one 17,) got hold of a paintball gun each. They decided to do a driveby on some poor thirteen year old kid. One problem: They were driving a truck with "HARTLEY SEAY AND SONS EARTHMOVING TAUPO" on the side along with a phone number. God they are so damn stupid, but it was funny as hell. Can't blame them really, there is absoloutly nothing to do in Taupo unless you're a tourist.
and lolz @ your dumbarse cousins

Any and all of those options ... depends on the owner.Ryan wrote:

Most of mine I inherited, so they have sentimental value.
For the most part, they're all worth more money than I have in them, not that I'm planning to sell them (due to reason 1)
I don't hunt, but I go shooting at least a few times a year. I used to hunt, but honestly, there's not much skill in the majority of hunting I've seen. It's just luck, patience, and technology. That, and well, when I was about 16 or so I realized that it's cruel unless I'm gonna eat it. Fuck cleaning the meat though, so I just acquire wild game meat from friends/family now.
When I lived in a crappier place, they protected my home and loved ones (no to mention my stuff). This without firing a round. What's mine is mine, and I will protect it. I'm not religious, and have no qualms toward removing a threat to my wife or myself.
As stated previously in this thread, I'm from Mississippi. Do I need another excuse?
Admit it you just wanted to see what that big red button marked only press in emergency did didn't you

I enjoy target shooting and the occasional 'dirt pit' shoot. I have a family relation that has a decent arsenal so I just bum off him. Like many things today, it has become an expensive hobby. I have my eye on a few 45's. Most of them are 1911 types.

I don't own any rifle myself. My dad was given a rifle my grandfather bought while in the marines, from what i can tell It's a Zastava. but exactly what model I can't figure out. It looks most likely a M70, but the stock is different. It's a .270 WIN, and I guess that works sicne all my dad ever used it for was black-tailed deer.
In about a year I plan on buying a Savage model 110 in either .30-06 or .270 for mullies.
