The irony. Oh, the irony. You just complained that Obama MIGHT BE A MUSLIM, so he shouldn't be president. I don't think a muslim could hold office in the U.S. Neither could a jew or a buddhist. Or even an athiest. The U.S. pretty much only allows Christians to run for office.
right, as stated in my long post above...he is part of a church and claims to be christian yet, the church he belongs to never once has him denounce Islam, or be baptized.  ^^ read my post above.
So what if his church doesn't require him to denounce Islam or be baptised
you dont think its weird that he never had to denounce Islam, a faith that hates Christianity, and if you do so as denounce Islam, you are to be killed.  If he is not a Islamic follower, why would he not denounce it?  Plus once born into the Islamic faith, which he was, you cannot just back out of that.

But it does matter. I'd be willing to bet any candidate that runs for office who openly declares to be a Muslim will NOT get elected.

Islam does not hate Christianity. (Remember who started the crusades. It wasn't them.)

I agree, a muslim would have little change of getting elected tbh.

And the crusades were started after the islamic denied the entrance of christians into jerusalem. This is too long ago to compare anyway.

how is the fact that when he was in school he circled that he was Muslum/Islamic when he had to circle his faith.  His mother and he did not circle Protestant and would have if it was so.

so?

Im technically a catholic according to the army.  I denounced catholicism decades ago.  Obama has repeatedly said he is not a muslim.  Are you saying that Im a catholic even though i dont identify as one?  dont make much sense to me.  Id like to think I have a choice in these things.

^^what he said.

Paranoid ranting is what it sounded like to me (not the OP's words, but what he was relaying).

So, from what I can gather, one of the primary pieces of "proof" that Obama is actually a Muslim is that there hasn't been a fatwa put out on him for converting to Christianity? I only say "converting" because supposedly if he's born into a Muslim family, he is automatically Muslim, and has no choice in the matter when he reaches some age of majority.

Here are some pieces to think about:

1. His mother wasn't Muslim. So at best, he was born "half Muslim". Maybe a playground beating as a kid took care of the punishment for conversion, since he wasn't completely Muslim (which is an idiotic description anyway, as there are no unique Muslim genetic markers).

2. Muslims consider Christians "people of the book". That would imply they don't hate Christians, but feel the message of Islam is the true message from God.

3. All the talk about non-Christians being elected to office (specifically president): We came within a hair's breadth of having a Jewish man elected to the Vice Presidency. Kind of removes support for that theory.

What I find most troublesome about Obama and his religious life is that he refuses to denounce the insane rantings of the preacher at his church in Chicago. That guy makes Farrakhan sound fair and balanced.

I agree completely but it is political pandering.  Just look at all the crazy evangelicals that support John McCain.

If you are worried that he can't back out of Islam since he was born into it, that might be a problem only if he wanted to live in an nation where Islam is law.  But since that isn't the case in the USA, why would his backing out be a problem?  Why should he have to specifically speak out against Islam?  To make you happy?  Please.  These theories are only put out there to scare the weak minded into thinking he is a terrorist.  That kind of shit only happens in movies, not in reality.

But don't you think McCain would be denouncing any that advocated for race wars? Or took positions similar to those nutjobs that protest soldiers' funerals?

He would be distancing himself from that mess so fast it would make your head spin.

The difference there is McCain does not attend those churches.  At least, as far as I know.

I see what you are saying.  I just dont care what the opinions are of a preacher of a church that he goes to.   Theyve been speaking up about it a lot in the past, seems only now its started to gain any weight in the media.

That is because it is the Fathers religious views that hold true in the Islamic faith.  Who knows, couldve been part of the reason they devorced in the first place.  But then why did both the father and mother remarry Muslims?

That preacher is nuts, but I don't think his congregation holds his beliefs.  It just seems like political poison for a presidential hopeful to be a member of the church.
