Hi, long time reader, don't post alot, anyway

I'm 18 years of age, and have wanted to join the Army/RAF for a while now, but can't decide which. I'm a skinny chap and really want to get in shape and serve in one the forces, i would obviously train up alot before joining, and i know you can't just "join" you need to pass certain things.

I have had a few jobs but i find them all boring and it doesn't feel like it's giving me any self-worth, i long for excitement, adventure and just something worthwhile. I'm finding everything i do boring and my mind always wonders what it would be like in one of the armed forces. I know it's not a decision to just rush into.
I think i would be better suited for groud force, something like a gunner which makes me think army would be better but i don't know.

I know a few of you are the in forces and would just like to know the good and bad about the Army & RAF. Tell me some stories about your time there.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

personally (and i might be joining) the army, the RAF just doesn't do enough anymore simply because the navy have many jets of their own.

Was hoping for some people in the RAF/Army to speak up about what they've done, their accomplishments if any, any stories about their training, anything really just to give me a small insight.

Especially in today's climate... really consider what you're about to do and what's going on today.. and what will go on in the next couple decades as oil supplies dwindle. good luck bro

I joined the US Air force way back when, I based my decision on my future not the present. I assume it is the same in England, you are gunna want to make a future out of your time spent in either service.

Figure out which service affords you the best training in a field you want to pursue as a civilian. Then your decision will become easy.

I'll be joining the RAF. Take that as a reason to join the RAF, or a reason not to.

For exactly the reason lowing said. The RAF will give me the best training for a future I want, also I'm more interested in the RAF side of things.

You should take serious consideration, there's a chance you'll be sent to either Iraq or Afghanistan in the future, and you'll have to deal with the most gruesome things you've probably seen in your life. Prepare a good talk for when they're going to give you some questions at the selections.

I'm going for the army, first off officer school though (as Infantry officer).

I can't decide what you like, it's where your heart is at.
