This has truly revoked my desire for playing BF2 again on a regular basis

you can get in touch with me via ICQ, my number is 121-777; or still communicate with kveto. But I think if something goes down, such as server crashes, or there are some details that need to be sorted out, we can chat via IM, thats the fastest way.
i have one proposal for your side you might think and talk about.in our community, we used to organize regular events, called "LWTB" - Long Way to Baghdad / Berlin / Beijing.
Point is very easy. Both team split into teams, in Long Way To Baghdad teams split into MEC and USMC side. Than, we create map, such as http://www.bfstats.info/lwtb2.php or http://www.bfstats.info/lwtb3.php . Then we split roles - USMC is supposed to conquer Iraq/China, MEC/Chinamen is supposed to protect it. Match date is scheduled (in our case it was scheduled two times a week, every Monday and Thursday for example) and 24 hours before each map attacking team has to announce map that it is going to attack, so opposite team has time to create tactics and so on. as soon as the war is over, teams just swap sides and everything starts again, but attackers defend and defenders attack (so both teams have equal chances). Plus you can reward your troops by ribbons into their statistics for their service (for example, see ribbons part in my statistics http://www.bfstats.info/player.php?id=13544)
All the rules you can read at http://www.bfstats.info/lwtb3rules.php (and they can be adjusted)
it is time consuming, but in our countries was very popular, since it is battlefield2 in much larger "campaign" scope. You must think, which maps to attack, if you lose you still have chance to win war, players get involved since they want their army to protect/conquer country and they hate when they lose, so they come and post their proposals how to improve team´s game.
if you get at least a little bit interested, you can contact me and we can talk about it
if you are able to get enough people (which I believe you have a lot), its much bigger fun to play clanwar 32v32
cu soon
