I'm trading in my old '02 Toyota Tacoma for a new '08 Tacoma, and I'm considering getting one of those custom license plates.
A few questions:

(1) How much is it (roughly) in CA?

(2) Any ideas for what I should get (I have 7 character spaces)?

(3) Would this make me look like a douchebag?

(4) Any other comments?

Yes.

Unless you actually get one that spells the word you want, but they are fucking expensive, the ones that try to spell something with dots between two 1's to make it look like a U or a H look ridiculous.

Don't get a custom license plate. They screech vanity and make it easier for cops and concerned motorists to remember you and more likely to bust your arse for whatever you happen to be doing. Sometimes I report people with those plates to the cops just to teach them a lesson in complacency.
