Ever since I unlocked the Baur, it's been my weapon of choice for the Assault class, even one of my favorites for the game. It basically allows me to snipe people pretty effectively. Hell, I've even outsniped Recons with sniper rifles before. And if you get good enough with it, it can be effective even at CQC (aim to their upper legs and let the recoil pull it up their body). I find the best thing to do at mid/long range is to go with single shot. You'll be able to take down the enemy with 3-5 well placed shots, and you won't spread like you would with burst fire.
Seriously, took the words right out of my mouth. Dr. Strangelove is also correct about the Voss, it's the most bitched about because everyone uses it, and it is also the worst assault weapon given the scar got a massive boost of potential a while back with 1.40. Voss recoils so bad when it hits full automatic, and I can't hit shit at a distance--probably cause I'm so used to Baur. Deviation wise, Burst-fire wise, Voss is inferior to all other guns, and the recoil--christ I can't stand it. The only reason Voss is used is because of the massive clip size which screams 'spraaaaay!' Most of my deaths are the result of being unable to disengage and fall back, vehicle comes along and splatters me, or (you guessed it) some bitch gets the fraction-second jump on me by opening up with a Voss as he comes around the corner ten feet away.
Lesser note, I'd also say running out of bullets in my 20 round clip doesn't help much either. Of course, thats only after creating a pile of corpses around me. Add me to your buddy list, game name is
