(I can't believe someone hasn't made a thread on this yet. )
Let's face it; Battlefield 3 is coming. What do YOU want to see in the next game? That way if EA listens to the community, they can see all we want in one big thread. We just might get lucky!
My ideas:
Blood and gore
-Server-side setting for blood. One server may have blood enabled, you'll see blood unless you turned it off in the vid settings. Another may have no blood at all, even if you have blood on in your settings. This enables BF3 to be T for Teen, because at the ESRB site:
Online Rating Notice
"Online-enabled games carry the notice "Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB." This notice warns those who intend to play the game online about possible exposure to chat (text, audio, video) or other types of content created by other players (e.g., maps, skins) that have not been considered in the ESRB rating assignment."
We all know EA loves the green, and what better way to manage a T for a bloody massacre. Loopholes.
-Video option for blood/gore. That way, some can have a few splatters of blood, while others have full-fledged bloodbaths. And some people can have no blood/gore at all. Mortal Kombat home ports have this feature.
Dynamic maps
-Weather would be great. Rain could slow your speed, obscure your vision, and under cover of buildings and trees, you are not affected by the weather. Strikes of lightning could kill players, or destroy the environment (set trees ablaze, harm players while they're swimming, etc.)
-Destructible environments (We're getting this according to leaked articles on BF3 on the Net ). Wallhackers no longer have an inaccessible-by-normal-means place to glitch into now, since we could just blast their spot with a tank shell or C4.
-Time. If you've played WarCraft III or The Sims 2, in-game, the time changes to night and day. Maybe have this kind of time change in BF2. The transfer could be taxing with all the map changes at the same time; lights turning on, different lighting being added. However, if the change was made slowly, it'd be easier on computers.
Kit loadout
-Not confirmed, but likely from the leaked articles, we're losing the anti-tank kit, and EA's combining them with the assault class. Before you say "idiot EA imbalancing things again with effing bunnyhopping noobtubers with rockets", I think they're going the smart route by altering the loadout a little, much like G3s and grenades in BF2. Possible explanation:
You could go AT assault, but you're equipped only with an assault rifle, no GL, and possibly limited ammo for the rifle, a knife and maybe a smoke grenade. Then you have your anti-tank weapon, possibly the RPG for one faction.
-The sniper class may be fused with the spec-ops class, 2142-style. At the spawn screen, you could choose between sniper rifle or carbine. C4 may not be handy for a sniper, but a trip flare will prove useful. I think nades defeat the purpose of stealth for both. With all the complaints of claymores, will we be seeing them in the next Battlefield?
-We want shotguns!! Can't medics/assault get shotties plox? <3 And the engy could swap for an assault rifle.
Ghillies
-Why only the ghillie for sniper in BF2? Why not for all the kits?
-Maybe the ghillie could weigh down the soldier. Your guise is not magically weightless. Their sprint meter could be reduced.
Tiny things
-When you die, the body doesn't always look up. An explosion could send you on your side, so you should see the wall or tree. This could prove to be a tactical advantage for fellow squadmates if you tell them what's up.
-Getting killed doesn't let you see a good distance around your corpse. You should see a black or white light, signifying death. This might be server-side, or won't happen at all.
