Wow, some of the answers here are weak. You do not need a pedal to get distortion sound ffs. Nor do you need a $2500 set up to stick with playing guitar. What you have is fine, and is more than capable of producing great sound that will last a long time. Hell, I had junk for 10 years (Hondo strat with a Gorilla amp, anyone remember those?) You do not need anything else for now.
I have now been playing close to 20 years. Ya, I play Ibanez with Crate sound.
Bottem line, have fun. If you want that distortion sound you are looking for, the button is your key. Use it to select the overdrive channel (down position). The knobs on the left of that button are your overdrive settings, on on the right is your clean channel. The overdrive side, the gain is your key. Play with that, and you will start to hear what you are looking for. Start with the level all the way down, and gain all the way up. Strum a cord, or open E (top) string, and slowly turn up the level. (make sure the volumn is set to about 25% for starters.) Your owners manual will explain all controls in detail.
I have the exact same amp I carry with me and use to warm up with backstage. Myself, I have gain at 75%, level at 25%, selecter button to overdrive (down position) volumn at 50%, low at 100%, mid at 25%, and high at 75%. That is a good all around, middle of the road tone to goof around with. Sounds good with any Ibanez, or Jackson I have plugged in to it.
Keep in mind, the overdive channel will use all six settings, while the clean will only use the right four. Crate amps simply rock. I have the FW120 head, with two FW412 cabinets. Plus, the little FW15 for warming up, and an FW65 for at home. I am a crate junkie i guess.
If you need any further help with it, send me a PM. I will set you straight. Or at least point you in the right direction.
BTW, I would find a local music shop, and take lessons. They will challenge you to read music, and give you goals to accomplish every week. That will help give you direction, and keep you focused. Good luck bud.
