I'm sure plenty of you have som nice home theaters here.

Post them!

btw,
Home cinema, also called home theater, seeks to reproduce cinema quality video and audio in the home.

Technically, a home cinema could be as basic as a simple arrangement of a television, DVD, and a set of speakers. It is therefore difficult to specify exactly what distinguishes a "home cinema" from a "television and stereo". Most people in the consumer electronics industry would agree that a "home theater" is really the integration of a relatively high-quality video output with surround sound.

Bose Sub Woofer [can't remember the name]
Bose Lifestyle Media Center
Pioneer Advanced Res DV-868AVi DVD Player

My 17" computer screen or 21" 34Hz CRT TV, hopefully to be replaced by an 80"+ projected screen soon.
Computer for everything.
Pioneer 4x100w stereo reciever + modded 2x50w AKAI reciever for the sub (Modded to an output of about 150w cross channels, lulz).
Pioneer 12" sub

https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/IMG_0001.jpg

2x 200w all-round speakers (8" woofer/mid, 3" tweeter, 2" tweeter)
on the A-deck of the reciever.
-OR-
2x 30w all-round speakers (6.5" woofer/mid, 2" tweeter)
2x 30w all-round speaker (3" woofer/mid, 1.5" tweeter)
on the B-deck of the reciever.
https://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/Freezer7Pro/IMG_0020-1.jpg

The A-deck speakers are for loud music, the B-deck ones are on the sides of the computer screen. They have a really, really clear sound, and sound just as good as the bigger ones, if not better, just not as loud.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

well duh...of course you would chose that, you got a Onkyo TX-SR 805 which supports that format...not many receivers do that you know...What I dont get is that you spent so much on a onkyo and then got speakers like that???? why not get some good one which your onkyo could use to the max...or are you happy with the way it is now??? It is of course not bad speakers your receiver is just overkill compared to them.

A valid question....

My PC is my home theatre....

Hooked upto a 100" projection screen with Logitech Z-5400 speakers. Works very nicely (just how I like it, I prefer it to a far more expensive, smaller, crisper setup - 60" screens just don't cut it for me anymore, they feel too small).

I know that if i get a projector I could never go back to 42-60" so that's why I am still delaying it, that and I dont got the space for it at the moment.
But when it comes to speakers I am already an audiophile (that aint something perverted just so you know he he)

It's overkill as it is right now for the room it's in. The receiver has three different zones. Running 2 or 3 multiple zones at the same time takes power. It's not all about how much juice you can squeeze into one room. wow..lol. Nor do you ever play a receiver at it's max, that's why they have a rated power spec.

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/ … _and_specs are very good speakers for the price. I'd rather spend 1400 dollars on speakers and upgrade them later than get a receiver that I wasn't happy with. Those speakers actually compliment it very well at the moment.

This is the problem with talking about this stuff over the internet. You have to see and hear it to understand. You said the sony xbr series has a poor picture quality? I have lot's of friends who are audiophiles/theater buffs who come over to my house to stare in disbelief and ask me why it looks so real. You rarely see these TV's setup and calibrated the proper way in stores. My only regret with my setup is the BD player.. it's slow .
