You'd be surprised once you start playing wake in the new patch. I had two guys manning those things the whole game. I'd take one out and the other would take me.

and it's kinda hard to get arond them to get them from behind since there's usually about 10/20 MEC near the armor (I play on larger maps)

and c4...please....most of the people who are good with c4 are too busy in the backyard of the hotel whoring...and anybody else would just get mowed down before they even turned the corner....

the only method that I found to work (in this scenario) is to take the square and get a good hit in from the TOW...then the AT can take out the other two

and USMC can take out one IGLA before somebody gets to it...(like to start the game)...OOOOOOR take the BH and drop off on the south approach at the beach bunker and have squad leaders hide for spawn points....

This quote is priceless.  You're complaining because you died 3 times? 

Here's the thing.  Up to now, pilots had absolutely zero respect for AA.  In 1.12 you can pretty much hop in a jet and NEVER get killed by AA.  Guess what, that wasn't because you were a 'great pilot'.  It was because it was easy.  No threat to you at all.  You think tanks and APC drivers don't panic when they hear beep-beep-beep?  Armor drivers RESPECT AT missiles as a serious threat, and they deal with it accordingly.  Tanks are not invincible, and the driver knows it.  Now jets are not invincible either.  And the pilots need to learn that.

So true.  I've been on both ends of these convoy scenarios.  Definitely hard to take out a convoy.   Assuming teamwork, heh, concentrate all AT on the weakest one first.

I'm not a pilot, and there was a time when I h8ed pilots, h8ed bein raped, h8ed death from above. But I learned how to live with it. So I didnt and dont really care about the jets. I havent play 1.20 yet, but when I read this I'm start thinking that AA is a bit owerpowered. (AA vehicles even worse!) But what about the flares? Does they help?
  I'm just saying that we will see more and more people on Karkand now, and less and less people on Oman and Wake.

i havent tried the new patch yet since im at school right now, but my thought about this is fighters will still be able to shake the AA missiles and get rid of them, however the technique of evasive manuevers will be more frequently used and it will include constant left and right turns, obviously only a tight turn cannot shake the missiles. the bombers are even more useless now, especially when it comes to dogfight.

sometimes you cant find the aa and other times its not an aa...its a jet on your ass. fuck dude, you guys think aviating is easy. i would love to see you guys try and get skilled at it so you can see its not easy to have a good ratio.

there's no point in saying that before the 1.2 patch the aa was a threat to reckon with. i'm a low/mid skill chopper pilot and in map like dragon valley (which is plenty of aa turret) before the patch the game was like: hear the tone, drop flares, turn around and blow the aa turret right up to the moon with a couple of rockets. there was very little chance of you being hit.
And let's assume you were hovering with your flares depleted, you could take two stingers and still turn, blow the guy's ass to the moon and then run for the helipad to repair. i can remember being shot down by aa like two or three times. and i'm not a skilled pilot, i can just fly around, going to hover without crashing and pointing the nose for the gunner to do the job (and sometimes blow up armor with rockets). tows, tanks and jets above all were the real threats, aa was just an easy frag.

on the other hand, if you were to use the aa, well first you had to forget about shooting down planes. first of all, most of the pilots approached the aa turrets with their nose staring at them. so 90% of the times i was on aa turret ii was done even before i could actually see the enemy plane. and if you could actually lock on an enemy plane, well the most noobish evasive turn would have made your stingers fly to the moon (or hit a friendly plane, actually i had more team vehicle damage than real frag while on aa). and in any case if you managed to hit the plane he could simply fly to carrier / runway, repair, and come back to blow you up.

so please face it, the aa was simply useless. if you managed to being shot down so many times by aa then there's something wrong with you. it's since last summer that i'm reading complains about the uneffectiveness of stingers, and actually i find myself whining about it many times.

it'll be like that for a while IMO...

but once we get used to it...I'm pretty sure that the best pilots will find new ways of evasion...and it will trickle down to the halfway decent pilots and we'll have a more competitive game in the end...

just lost and won a round a wake with the new patch playing usa side.... real good defence from the other with armour and troops..
AA was taken care of with artillery.
game is still good, you people just need some time to adjust.

So I keep hearing that all the pilots hate the new AA. 4th even made the comment that it is akin to homing artillery that reloads every two seconds and you cant hide from (to relate it to the ground pounders.) Well, let me say that as a ground pounder, pre patch, jets and helis WERE that imaginary magic artillery you speak of. I cant even count all the posts of pilots with 40-0 k/d ratios and pwning a map in a jet. All a decent pilot has to do is swoop, bomb, and get 5-10 kills for his "trouble". Well, all that is gone now. Now you get to see what its like on the other side of the fence. Amazing that now pilots get killed with the ease that they used to have killing infantry. Tide's turned. Only the elites will be flying now, because only they will be able to. Thank you thank you thank you to EA and DICE for this patch. It's gonna be a whole new war now.

Jets were difficult to shoot down and most of the time it was either a fluke or the pilot flew in the straight line past you allowing you shoot the missles up his arse.

AA was useless though, but not entirely. I mean if you just jump in it and fire 2 missles at a heli that will obviously just drop flares, then don't expect to drop it the thing. Jump in, fire 1 rocket, because the pilot will hear the warning sound drop his flares, allowing you to lock on him with the second and fire, he won't drop flares because they haven't recharged. Once done, jump out of the fucking thing ASAP.

That's what I did if I wasn't using a TOW and it worked out quite well.

That's why I put in the "heh".  Sarcasm.   Team work, tell me about it.  I've taken the Karkand 64 rear flag, but my team mates won't spawn on me.  I'm left to defend the rear alone as the MEC armors return to retake the base.
