A few comments:
AT is now slowly becoming the new noobtube, nobody uses it for armor anymore.
C4 is found useless to people now because they can't throw it like a grenade.
TOWs? Oh yeah, that seat made for commanders... or was it made for sniping infantry.
Bombers and TV missles? is this new?
Dogfights? wtf. no such thing anymore.
Teamwork will definitely win golds. knife, revive, knife revive, knife revive.... pistol, revive, pistol, revive, pistol revive... That's probably the most teamwork I see in BF2. Props, stat padders.
Now, speaking from my own experience. I'm not a good pilot, but in the time I've flown, I've only been shot down by AA by friendly fire. Afterburner and a sharp turn is all it takes to lose AA on the previous patch.
Regarding AT as a sniping tool, it takes skill to do that. Splash damage is very minimal, and as such you can only really kill those who insist on staying prone. Dodge and jump and the AT will miss you. Albiet a few times I've been killed by AT missiles while frozen in amazement like a doe to incoming headlights. AT bunnyhoppers should go away.
C4 shouldn't be thrown like grenades. C4 traps still works wonders against fast moving vehicles.
TOW are defensive weapons. Watch the mini-map and listen for the vehicles. Once again, great for taking out fast moving vehicles.
Bombers and TV Missiles. Nope, not new. But now, you've got to wait for a gunner and fly high, like what bombers are meant to do.
But you are true regarding the medic/support point whores. Look at my medic stats, I rarely play it.
could it have been because it was pointless since even a noobish pilot could take down the AA on the essex????-iLL*NaYmL3sS wrote:

hell even "I" could do it and look at MY pilot stats....
this is what happens when you get a bunch of whiney little fucks crying about being owned by a good pilot, ive been shot outta the sky more times in the last 30 min than i have in the last month, ive turned my sensitivity up and thrown out some of the best evasive manuvers you can do in a jet, and no, i had some little fucking corpral shoot me down 3 times on dragon valley, go whine about tanks are too powerful you bitches, mabie they will make AT kill them in 1 shot, THATS what needs to be done in the game.
the essex is the easiest aa vehicle to take down a jet dude. that mounted mg tears shit up. if its not a noob in the essex, chances are the essex will win. i fucking hate the essex. it owns me.

I get so frustrated how me and 3/4 others are trying to take out the T-90 and we can't because it keeps reparing itself
Aim at the fucking front or rear tracks then.
I really hate that when you're with a group of people who are AT and they don't even try to aim at any of the weak spots or just get owned because they jump out infront a tank that's likely to shoot them straight away...
Or even worse fail to see a supply crate fixing the tank and continue to shoot the tank instead of blowing up the supply crate...

....which is where GOOD pilots come in. Not those morons who go to bomb a tank and end up eating leaves. Welcome those tanks with open arms, you may as well do with the new AA.jjrp02 wrote:

ROFL... ricidulous AA's. i guess i'll give up the air combat medal and go for my vet air defense instead.
now that I think about it....I wonder how much of an increase we'll see in RAMMING

Yeah like I've spent so much time in choppers. A whopping 2 hours and 23 minutes. Most of that time is spent riding out to the carrier in Iron Gator battles.-iLL*NaYmL3sS wrote:

-iLL* looking at your stats I can see why you might be worried about the new v1.20 patch release. Once all the BF2 servers are patched and AA can be used as an adequate defense against your air attacks, you will have to start bailing out to save your hide or die in fiery blaze of enemy AA.
LOL! I love it. Finally a little payback for all my deaths from above.
If you look at -iLL* stats... out of 223 hours he has played, 142 hours in choppers or planes. That is 64% of his playing time in the air. He loves the sky obviously. His chopper k/d is an unimpressive 3.78 (I have seen much higher) but his jet k/d is a very high 11.05. Then look at his infantry weapon stats. All his infantry weapon k/d ratios are abysmal. .09 k/d with pistols, .12 with sniper rifles, oh wait .63 with spec ops carbines, so I guess he doesn't just chuck C4 he dies while doing it too. He can't fight unless he's in a jet or a chopper! He is ineffective. I wouldn't want him on my team, no wonder he is pissed.
I feel sorry for him. Because from now on. After he pulls the parachute cord to bail out of his dead jet/chopper he doesn't stand a chance on the ground. Where 95% of the legit BF2 action occurs, ie. firefights, heals, re-supplies, tactical explosions, repairs, flag caps/defends etc. This is where the games are won or lost.
One more thing to look at. His team kills... 508!!! Wonder how many of those TKs were friendlies shot in the back for trying to do what he says we should, fly and "pwn" other jets/choppers?
I can't wait to get into a server and "hunt" his butt down Cheney style.
See you all on the battlefield.
Dude, buy a flight simulator and quit complaining that you now have nothing to contribute to your team's success in this game!
Or get on the ground with us grunts and learn to help your team win, by aiming, killing, capping flags, healing, setting traps, supplying, repairing, assaulting, defending etc. There is more to BF2 than just flying!
The v1.12 AA sucked A$$. So EA "fixed" it.
Adapt or die! Plain and simple.
See you on the Battlefield.
LOL RELAX!!!! ITS NOT FOREVER. In 1.21 PATCH THEY WILL try TO BALANCE IT AGAIN

Hint: take out the supply crate first. Flank the tank and shoot from behind. Or against a convoy, go C4.jjrp02 wrote:

Tanks seem to get destroyed easier now too... so I think the bitching worked for that too..:ronin:.|Patton wrote:

However... while AA may be really powerful... they still make for easy targets. Any troop can take out a stinger site in under a few seconds... or a sniper can clean it from far away. Even a direct plane rush with the gun blasting away can clean out the site before they can shoot you down. The thing is that you will actually have to think about AA before flying.
It really shouldn't be much of a problem, it should encourage pilots to fly at higher (300+ ft) altitudes where they are safe from AA and plan their bombings accordingly. No more mindless flying around dropping bombs at any available target. (Kinda like the bithcing that is going around about people using AA). No more flying around close to the ground like before cause you were immune to everything.
Hell, you'll even have to communicate with your team to get them to clear out SAM sites for you. That way you'll have a clean pass at a specific flag. But OMG, no one wants to have to talk to their team, or have to plan out bombings before hand.
The way I see it, this patch has shifted back the game to what it should be. I can't remember which idiot said that if we want an infantry based game we should play CS:S because that cracked me up, seeing as how BF2 really is infantry based. Planes and helicopters are no longer primary assault vehicles, but rather are going to have to be used as support and defense. Choppers will no longer be able to fly out to any flag and hover around to cap it, because that simply makes you a sitting duck. Flight will have to be more tactical.
If you think this is unfair, then you were probably one of the people that enjoyed the easy and overpowered way of life you could have from flying in a jet or chopper all map long. Now that you will be required to think and plan, like the rest of the players on the ground, you are all looking for another safe easy way to get kills in BF2. Good luck with that.
it's going to be like handheld razors...Dr.Battlefield wrote:

Hint: These are the same people who continue to spawn on the deck of the carrier when they have a multitude of flags on the island and entire fleet of rubber boats waiting to be taken.
Question - the AA on Iron gator's range can shoot from the MEC mainland at a chopper flying over the carrier. Won't this make the choppers absoloutly useless?
cuz i dont feel like sitting in those things for 100 hours... loljjrp02 wrote:

its just freaking impossible. futher i noticed that while having no air force on both sides destroys the fun.
almost none of the flags where taken cuz some tank whores with suplies keep defending some flags.
and yes its just as easy to shoot an enemy jet. one time i got shot before i even heard the lock on tone.
once i was behind one i shot it down even while he tried to dodge them. just forget it
lock on is dead
