The controversial Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), a Kansas-based congregation infamous for its demonstrations outside funerals for US soldiers killed in Iraq, issued a homophobic statement which said the Australian actor, who was found dead yesterday, was “now in hell”.

The Church, which has been classified by the Southern Poverty Law Centre as a “hate group”, also planned to hold a demonstration outside of the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony.

Just heard one of these nutjobs on radio - her closing comment when asked if she was seriously going through with coming to Australia to protest was "I don't dare come to your disgusting country as I would probably get arrested as soon as I got there".

Charming. If any Aussie was still not ready to bash her head in, they are now.
