Almost anyone ive talked to in real life has never seen Godzilla (1998 version). Anyway this part of the movie and cloverfield are so alike in many ways its not even funny, like the part where godzilla steps on the tank, the thing in cloverfield did that also.

Oh, and turn down your sound at the beginning, the idiot who hosted this put some retarded sound at the beginning that blew my eardrums.

I don't see the huge similiarities. Completely different camera work, perspective, angles, and even the actual stuff that happens. I don't see how they are the same, besides the fact that each has a monster causing destruction in a city. And if that's too much for you, well... I don't know what you were expecting.
