You might want to qualify that as multiplayer FPS, because there are ten trillion games that have better and more substantial singleplayer than Battlefield 2.sergeriver wrote:

K correction to my statement.
"Owning GOOD people never gets old"
Agreed firebolt. 1942 is epic, cod4 is better than bf2 coz of the fail patches and buggyness of EA products.

CoD4 is an arena game. It's different then BF2 and takes different skills to stay alive, such has how to avoid more nades while running in to a room balls out shooting everything in sight and killing it all rather quickly, while the very same could happen to you.
I've settled on that, and while it pissed me off to no end at first it's fun to get a modern shooter with elements of old Quake and Doom 3 second lifespans.

I'm sorry but the comments about this game being like cs:s or even crazier cs 1.6 is just fucking crazy.
Of course.nukchebi0 wrote:

The comparison with BF2 is crazy they are two different games. This game is more like an improved CS.Danbowski wrote:

The multiplayer is a shitty spamfest. Even Karkarnd 64 players at the beginning isn't this bad. I'm rapidly getting over this game and now find myself avoiding any server that has more that 8 or 9 people playing on it for fear of this shitty spam.
CoD4 is essentially an improved CS, especially in S&D. It's the truth, theres no two ways about it, and anyone that disagrees is either hated CS (rightly so) and is in denial that this is a CS clone, or loves CS and is trying to distinguish CoD4's flavour of the month MP scene from their own.
In terms of longevity BF2 owns the shit out of CoD4. Summing up CoD4: Run around, while carrying or not carrying a bomb, towards either some objective in the distance or just in circle, firing a gun at enemies who are doing the same, while pressing G every 5 seconds. The team based gametypes have absolutely no semblance of teamwork in general, and the rare server that does has the teamwork worked out to a. who throws the flashbang, me or you, or b. which camping spot is the best if you're defending the bombsite.
Once you reach level 55 you either get bored and stop, become a leeter than thou dickhead who abuses people for daring to use a gun not the mp5, or become one of those people that claims to love the game but hasn't actually played it for 4 months because they've been too busy having a circle jerk on their private servers using their 'competitive' mods (I wish I could make a mod removing 80% of a games features and call it competitive).
Multiplayer is fun in the way FEAR Combat was fun, in the way STALKER multiplayer was fun, and in the way that Half Life 2 Deathmatch was fun: It will be novel and hold your attention for about 3 or 4 weeks. After that you realise that it's the same 9 or so maps that you've been playing on time after time, with the only variation in gameplay time after time being the gun you're currently trying to get 150 headshots for. After which you will either stop (which I am VERY VERY close to), or continue into oblivion while trying to remember not to swallow your own tongue.

Seriously, you people that complain about CoD4... did you start gaming on BF2? The BF series are the only games that have such huge maps and unique gameplay. CoD1/2/3, MOHAA, MOH:SH/BT, PA, MoH:A etc all have the same "small map, close-quarters" gameplay that you all hate. You know why? Because it's INFANTRY!. Do you prefer the maps all be 64-man Karkand sized, so you have to sprint for 30KM before you see a guy, only to die and do it again, and again...and again....and ....
CQB FTW.

don't take gaming too seriously
I don't have many problems on CoD4.
But thats because I play on the 360 and it must seem awkward for new-fags to shoot properly.

Just get in a party with 2-3 more people. Me, mkxiii, kptk & hoplite do that, and pretty often dominate a server due to team work.

You have 16, 32 or whatever small and medium maps in BF2.CrazeD wrote:

Yeah that maps are still too large for good infantry combat though. 16 players on a map 1 miles long is kinda a bit retarded, especially when only 4 of those people will even try to cap. Its one of the reasons frontlines looks good, it forces u to stay atleast near the combat.
Play hardcore, it's what makes me play the game. Standard is pathetic.Phrozenbot wrote:

I agree with OP whole-heartedly
I'll e-slap the fuck out of the next person who says the maps are too small for sniping.

The maps are too small for sniping. You are better off knifing.

Knifing and throwing grenades is stupid in this game. You just press a key without running the risk of getting a knife out to be seen and shot. You don't get to say owned or whatever if you knife someone. It's nothing to be proud of.
Also, maps are too small for sniping.

I agree, the level design in 2142 is way better than in bf2.FatherTed wrote:

wtf ? 2142 has the worst level design in online FPS history.Vilham wrote:
