so i tried reinstalling BF2 to get some fun in the other day, but when the disks are all done it gives me this message saying windows could not complete installation. So i thought "ok whatever" and continued on getting the patch, when i get to about 90% in the patch it stops and says i do not have dx 4.09.0000.0904. its not my direct x because mine is fully updated and just to be safe i reinstalled it.

does anyone know whats going on and how to solve this?

Updated video card drivers right? That's what you mean by directX. Also, what graphics card is it?

the graphics card i have is a nvdia geforce 5500 FX. I will check on if i have the latest drivers now.

People who have experienced this error before (the error is saying you don't have DirectX 9.0c), have resolved it simply by reinstalling video drivers.

Also, the 5500 FX can barely run BF2 ... but enough to have fun (that's the card I first started playing BF2 on)!

Agree with OrangeHound. Re-install DirectX 9.0c and your latest video drivers...in that order.

Ok thanks guys, there were some new drivers I didn't have so I took old ones off rebooted and did the whole process for drivers. I'm reinstalling BF2 now and if I get the error again I will screenshot it so if theres more to it you guys may be able to help.

edit: By the way, when I was putting the new drivers on it gave me the same message as it did with bf2 a week ago "software could not pass windows tests" or something along those lines and it gives you an option to stop or continue.

edit #2: ok after the new drivers and dx being reinstalled here is what it gave me:

feel kinda dumb now guys.. I hit the patch setup, it didnt pop up so i went to get a drink and it started going and the game works now.. tons of lag though, its my pc though (intel celeron, nvidia 5500, and 604 mb of ram) thanks for the help anyways guys.
