Why is this game considered good?

I held off on buying this game because of people essentially comparing it to a souped-up CS:S. I installed my friend's copy because he got bored of it after like 1 week...

I played it for maybe 2 hours, then uninstalled it...what exactly is so great about this game? The single player is short, the AI is retarded, and the graphics are just so-so (I played it with every setting maxed, too...).

What gives?

As with every game it is not a guarantee that you will enjoy it. The single player is short but, has some unique and interesting missions. (I consider playing the SP a 2nd time on arcade mode I found it a lot more enjoyable.) The multiplayer is nice but gets somewhat repetetive and I would like to see more maps and some of them being bigger. All in all I think it's a pretty decent game. Remember no one is forcing you to play it.

I think the SP is awesome. Sure it's short, but the missions are really sweet. Especially the one where you go back 15 years and snipe Zakhaev (spelling), and the Epilogue mission is great fun. Graphics are pretty good in my opinion, and I don't even run it on maxed settings. I don't see where you're pulling "just so-so" from. The multiplayer is where it's at though. Sure it gets somewhat repetitive, but that's basically how all multiplayer/online FPS's are.

Maybe I didn't give it enough time, maybe I'm still too into BF2...I'm just glad I held off on buying it.

Not a bad game by any means, but not really enough for me to stop playing BF2...I think that the massive scale of the Battlefield games has spoiled me, and I will not like many games unless they capture that.

I just hope they do the Battlefield series justice with BF3.

COD4 killed BF2 for me, the MP is just very fast paced and intense, whilst BF2 is alot slower, aside from those odd occurances of incredible action. THe SP was short, but better then alot of FPS's storyys ive played, MP is where it shines, may not be more then run and gun action, but I love infantry combat, and the frentic pace, and the constant amount of action keeps me coming back. CS:S and BF2 haven't been able to do that.

I like COD4. Its just a different game than BF2. Never really been exposed to the nade-spam that everyone talks about. In my opinion, there is way more nade-spamming in BF2 than COD4.

I still like BF2 better.

Well thanks for the replies...it's all a matter of taste I guess, and I've never really hopped on the CoD bandwagon, even with the previous WW2 games.

It just doesn't seem like a game that I would consider as worth $40-50. It's disappointing that both Crysis AND CoD 4 were kind of let-downs

CoD4 is only a let down if your shit at it which could be due to many factors like, your not used to this kind of fps or you are picking bad none hardcore servers. If your not you would love it. No offense but ive never had this nade spam problem, infact BF2 is the master of the nade spam, that game had so much nade spam it sickened me.

I agree with you, except for hardcore. Hardcare is retarded, with no skill involved... only the luck of the draw.

I like CoD4 because it is a true "Run 'N Gun". In that, you never stop moving except to reload, and you never stop shooting except to reload. There is ALWAYS an intense fire fight going on (unless you're playing S&D, then it's boring and slow (though fun in matches)). The fact that you have to find enemies in BF2 is what makes the I/O boring for me (unless you're in a 64 player Karkand, but then it's just nade-tillery).

Anyway, all in all, CoD4 is much better than BF2 I/O in my opinion. BF2 is too unbalanced and n00b to be any fun for I/O.

Try playing SD in mp. Playing nothing but respawn-type rounds forever makes the game suck imensely.

Trust me on this. Search and Destroy is the only real gametype that takes skill, it adds longevity to muliplayer, even if you're not in a clan, and any decent match is gonna be SD.

If you already play SD, then I guess you just dont like the game.

Really, while some of it is opinion, a lot of enjoying video games is knowing how to play the game. If you dont know how to play a Battlefield game, you're going to think it sucks. Same with CoD4, and counter strike.
