Indeed. In German, süß does mean sweet and Schnecke is a snail. It may well be one of those words that doesn't translate well though.

"Schnecke" is also another word for Vagina. As in every language, you have different meanings for a single word. In german, you can call your sweetheart a "süße Schnecke" without referring to her Vagina, but just to call her like a pastry.
