This is my guide about using the mobile and stationary anti-air missles and guns. It ALSO includes jet air to air and jet to chopper.
Stationary AA
Ground AA: Against choppers-Wait for the flares to drop, then let both of those babies fly. If they have a small amount of damage then you can kill them with just those missles. If they aren't damaged and you have fired both and hit, get out of the AA and find cover close by, chances are they will attempt to blow it up. If they do, then you have to wait. BUT, I find 9/10 times they won't destroy it all the way, and then repeat the first direction. If it is a transport chopper cover is not necessary.
Ground AA: Against jets-Not exactly effective in my eyes, but if used correctly, it can be deadly. When a jet is bombing wait until it is close to its target then lock on and let the missles go. If they are just flying across, just shoot them right away. Against jets, the ground AA takes a little bit of luck.
Essex: Against choppers-Same as ground AA but cover is not necessary. Make sure to use the guns in bursts.
Essex: Against Jets-If they start shooting at you jump out, you should be an engineer, ready to repair. Then, get back in and fire every missle you have, 4/5 times it will kill them.
Mobile AA
Against Choppers: Make sure you are near trees or a bridge that you can hide behind when a T.V. missle comes, or else you will be toast. Use the guns a lot, and also wait for the flares first.
Against Jets: Same as Essex
Jets vs. Jets
Always fly around in bomb mode so you don't immediately alert your enemies that you are behind them. Wait until they are flying relatively straight and switch. Use guns then missles.
Jets vs. Choppers
Once again, bomb mode. Make sure to listen for "enemy chopper spotted". FLY AT THEM FROM THE SIDE. This is critical, because a good gunner with a smart pilot will take you out of the sky if you come straight on. I tend to use only guns in bomb mode when attacking a chopper because then they don't do flips to avoid you as fast. I find missles pointless against good chopper pilots.
That's my guide, feel free to tell me what you liked and disliked and what I need to add.
