Do you guys listen to music while you play, is it an advantage or disadvantage?

The reasons for each i've come up with so far ...

Advantages :

- Keeps you on your toes more?
- Enjoy the game more when listening to music

Disadvantages :

- Can't hear the game sounds as well
- Distraction?

Personally I do ... I enjoy listening to music while I play but inevitably I can't hear the in-game sounds, ie. footsteps, as well as I could if I wasn't listening to music ... I try to make a compromise by listening to the music quietly so I can hear the music but the in-game sounds too.

what do you guys think?

I haven't actually done it with Call of Duty 4 yet but I think I will try now On CS Source, all the time! I quit and load music if I forget heh.

Yeah, music is kinda handicap at this game, you should really listen to the ingame sound instead of music!

Back in the day used to listen to Maxim's first single on repeat while playing Driver.
Music while driving is a must. I go nuts if I don't have music playing in any vehicle for that matter.
But for other games, nah. Unless it's a creepy kinda game. Then some good ole' horror music just adds the chills nicely.
For sounds in general, does anyone remember from Vampire The Masquerade at the mountain observatory when the werewolf attacked? I almost shitted myself That growl/yelling was the creepiest shit I've ever heard in a game. 10+ for the sound effect dude

Its a disadvantage, doesnt make much of a difference though as most ppl still suck at the game.

I listen to hardcore while playing but it aint a good idea in the first place to play music, you get distracted.

If I play music, it's when I'm in a vehicle (..in a different game, dur.)

I don't like music when I'm playing infantry (games).

I don't do it, even though in BF2 it's probably not much of a disadvantage. In COD4, it would wreck you cuz the sound is so important.
