Does your laptop have a graphics card in it?  Sounds to me like you don't and the onboard graphics aren't good enough to run the game.

Have you had it running before? According to Intel:

Battlefield 2* game is playable on the Intel® G965 Express Chipset and Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset. Based on extensive testing, Intel suggest using the following game setting values for an optimal experience on this game:

Video options:

    * Display Mode = 800x600 @ 60Hz
    * Overall Quality = Low (becomes Custom)


Custom quality:

    * Terrain = Low
    * Effects = Low
    * Geometry = Low
    * Texture = Low
    * Lighting = Low
    * Dynamic Shadows = Off
    * Dynamic Light = Off
    * Anti-Aliasing = Off
    * Texture Filtering = Low
    * View Distance Scale = 75%

The wonders of google...Anyway, try lowering your resolution to 800x600 via the shortcut. Also run BF2 in a window so you can see any errors.
