I'm grabbing one for my new computer how bought you guys? The only thing i'd be worrred about is that its only 256. Click Here!!!
256 won't be bad as long as you aren't playing over resolutions of 1280x0124 / 1440x900 at a push.
i wouldnt do the 256...thats a waste. Get the one i got....8800GT Alpha Dog version. its a 512 already overclocked core.Brizzzer wrote:

If you can afford the 512 MB version and can find a decent one in stock why settle for the 256?
The exact reason why I'm probably going for the 512. 1600 x 1200 <3kylef wrote:

Well damn whats the point of release it if it can't hand some games...
For the mid-end people who don't want to play things like Crysis at max settings. Maybe Medium.Brizzzer wrote:

I'm sure a 256mb 8800 GT could handle something like CoD4 on max settings at 1024x768.
The price difference is minimal. 8800GT 512= all games for sure, 8800GT 256= new games may require more memory than that. 8800GT is a capable card but only with 512 or more. Buying the 256 version is a waste of money if you ask me.Poseidon wrote:

A super PC from the year 2020 would even get a ''no go'' to Crysis.Sup wrote:

In 2009 when Crysis 2 is released our PCs will just be able to run Crysis stable on very high, itll repeat all over again until Crysis 3 is released, then Crysis 4 and 5 and Crysis Retro Disco Black Dude With Afro Edition.
If you intend to use AA or AF in the slightest, I'd recommend you avoid this like the plague. I've looked at some benchmarks and they can turn 60FPS+ to 0 with this card. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/GeForce-8 … 29841.html
Yep, lower amount of video memory is less AA (maybe even none with this), lower resolutions and in the worst case turning down settings..
But it sure will handle some (not the newest) games with 2/4X AA on 1280x1024.. It's also a narrow bus width btw, only 256 bit But yeah, if you're tight on budget its your choice.
