I'm leaning more towards the police side of the issue. In this country, if you call in that you heard someone screaming like you described, they would probably respond and I know they don't need permission to enter the house in certain cases, like an emergency, which may or may not be the case. Still, if you call the popo, nobody involved will know it was you. Hell, you could even go down to the police station and talk to someone there about it and find out what is the best course of action.

What about a serious beating for the guy, like take one of his fingers or something? It's easy enough to recover from bruises but with a missing finger he'll have a little reminder every time he raises his hand to hit her.

It sounds like your going to have to gamble with phoning the police. He may get angered more by the police coming round, resulting in her getting even more beatings. I think the least you could do is phone the police, even though you may feel that it might make things worse, at least you have done your part.
Send him to a boxing match as a surprise then throw him into the ring with Ricky Hatton or Lennox Lewis or someone.

Ok, guys, thanks for the advice. We decided to let the cops do their job, that if the lady accepts the help. We won't beat the guy because we don't want to go to jail. So, my friend will go tomorrow to the cops and we'll see what happens.

i think you made the right decision, but urban justice might be the answer if he gets out of hand.

After that we drug him out and basically destroyed him physically and made it clear that we were going to continue the same way if he ever touched her again. He finally gave up and disappeared. His mother picks up and drops off the kids when they go from one house to the other. He knows if he fucks with her again, even though she isn't my employee anymore, we'll burn down his fucking house and beat him senseless. Violence is the only thing those people understand.

It's true that 90% of the time you are the asshole in those situations, but the 10% of the people who desperately need your help are worth putting up with the 90% who turn on you.
Two weeks ago on my way to Houston I was stopped and a man was choking a woman. I yelled at him and he let her go. He started towards me and I got the tire iron out of my trunk. He got in his vehicle and drove away. I could have stayed out of it, and she probably would have taken an ass-whipping. She might have gotten one later, but not on my watch.

what if it was a case of sexually abused kids? those parents wouldn't like anyone in their business either, but i don't give a shit what the parents "like". i am concerned about the best interest of the kids, or in this case, the wife.
