Haha you can't get a job with one. At least not one that is dependant on the degree in most cases.
Seriously though, I got mine with a thought of going for International law, which I didn't end up pursuing due to money issues. It can be a good degree, but most likely a gov'ment job would be the end result, and you said you don't want one of those. If you have the ability and the financial means, it's a good start to a law degree of some sort, but you probably won't be able to get "a real job" with one. I got mine because, like you, I enjoy politics and the discussions about them.
I figured out early on that I would not be able to get the job I wanted with just a Poli Sci degree, but it didn't stop me from getting one. A friend of mine DOES work for the government and has a PS degree, and is doing quite well. Then again, he whores himself out to the Democratic Party and kind of sold out in my opinion, but he makes good money and enjoys it, so who am I to bitch?
Most jobs like to see a University degree of any kind, because it shows you are driven and responsible enough to follow through with a commitment. If you want to be able to market yourself, a Computer Science degree would be far better. However, if you have the drive and the means, you can always go for a double major. Remember also that you can change your major at almost any time through your first 2 years, with a few exceptions. You have plenty of time to make your decision, and a long time to regret it too (j/k).
