Well, thanks to Z-Troopers awesome tutorial, I have come up with this.
It`s not completely done, still needs a few fine details and some optimization, but otherwise, this is what I have after 3 days of work.

That's pretty cool, I got into modeling basic gun shapes but I never got around to actually finishing any :\

After I`m done this, I might move on to an AK47 or a .50 cal sniper rifle.

Looks good.

Could you post a pic of the mesh/wireframe?

One thing though: The whole gun looks a bit on the wide side, especially the grip.

hmm, looks kind of fat but goot to see some progress man. maybe I should get cracking on that video 3, the original video and audio are totally out of sync, so thats a huge problem!

I should really do a tutorial on smooth grouping

I'll post a pic of the wireframe soon. And yeah, the gun is a bit wide, I'll narrow it down a tad.

Have you uploaded video 3? I looked around and couldn't find it, so I just kept going without your video. I know the whole gun is blocky, but everytime I try the smooth groupings, it messes up the gun even more. Like the handguard. If I smooth group it to get rid of the blockiness, I end up getting these weird edges. Get on xfire some time so you can help me out.

there is only so much smooth grouping can do. After I'm done editing the 3rd video I'll make a small video on smooth grouping, its one of the things I forgot to show in details and it seems people have problems with it.

About the xfire thing: I've just moved so I have no internet at home, only at the university where a proxy keeps me from using xfire. But I can use msn however.

good effort though, like I predicted you made fast progress and have a fairly good understanding of how these things work. a few more months/weeks and you'll be teaching people too

Yeah. I'm not gunna make it terribly detailed, just enough to make it look nice.

I narrowed it down a bit, it's not so wide anymore...
I dunno what else you want me to do, that's how the gun looks.

The grip is too big otherwise it looks okey. It's a fun weapon. We use it in the swedish army.

I dont think I'll edit the last video, it has a major bug in video/audio sync, it starts and ends up in sync but the middle part is friggin wierd. I dont want to spend all my time editing something a few people use. There are better tutorials out there so of cause they are more popular (I havent posted it the right places either).

I'll probably upload the un-edited video 3 monday, it seems you are the last person I know of still using it. you can just zapp through it and see what is done there and maybe correct a few things from that.

Even if I wanted to edit the video I sure dont have time for it now. I have so much university work to do its crazy, and I'm starting up my own modification very soon (within a week or two, with a few talented people ). It'll probably be a FPS based on the Source engine, but no promises yet.

I plan on using some of the weapons I've made over the last ~4 months (some are still WIP as you might be able to see)

https://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z232/Z-trooper/Modelling/wallofdestruction2.jpg - unfortunatly photobucket nerfed the resolution from 1920x1200 to 1024x768 :'( but you get the idea...

its WIP (work in progress), just threw them on there for the fun of it.. since its so "low" res a lot of those small things cant be spotted. For instance the MP5SD6 (I made over a few hours of friday night) is still missing a lot of work, but from the distance its at on this render it looks rather finished.

also there are no triggers for any of the AR-15 variants..
