Since I posted some crazy renders of my Project reality models here in the graphic section, PM's have been streaming in with questions and such.

So here are some video tutorials to get started modeling weapons.

I've learned from them - so can you.

WARNING
If you consider taking up this hobby I have a few recommendations:
Be patient!
Take the time needed.
Dont give up in the beginning - try asking for help.
Its addictive, and I'm sure that my latest apprentice (lol?) Ryan, would agree with that.

Here are some tutorials for you to chose from.

Beretta 9000 video tutorial - modeling.
http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/23868/be … o-tutorial

It was the first one I used, and a lot of the techniques he uses can be used to make many of my models. I recommend watching video 1 + 2 if you dont like the gun. It teaches the basics. I didnt make the Beretta, instead I made this Colt 1911A1 using this tutorial as a guideline/reference:

(not finished)

Creating a weapon for Source
I can also highly recommend the Glock tutorial. Its 3 part and the guy takes you through the journey of creating a weapon for the source engine.

Part 1 - modeling: http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/24143/cr … for-source
Part 2 - texturing: http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/24148/cr … rce-part-2
Part 3 - animation: http://www.moddb.com/games/61/half-life … rce-part-3

My: AK5 Video tutorial

EDIT: forgot the link http://www.realitymod.com/forum/modelin … 31250.html

A lot of beginners were complaining about not being able to use plane modeling (as the two previous videos use) properly. So i decided to make my own tutorial to show how I model.
The techniques I use are fast and the model will take shape fast, but it can be confusing at times and you have to mind the 3 dimensional space a lot when you make changes. All of this is explained in the tutorial.

IMPORTANT the tutorial is still a "work in progress" and wasnt really inteded for others than the PR modding forum but it seems to have spread regardless - no worries I'm glad to help out if I can. Because of these two reasons I wont be answering questions outside the PR forum (that being said - I might answer a few anyway, since I'm not and ass).
The microphone is crappy too, but I'm sure you are able to survive it, if not you can always drop it. I was doing it in my precious spare time without any pay so it is what it is.
The video is rushed to save time and space!, its not the quality of the model thats important, its the techniques... if I lose you try watching the part a few times and just look at what I do and not what I say...

The tutorial consists of 4 videos (3 are operational atm).

these are the results after video 1, 2, 3

And finally the optional video 4
