Not to mention that the colonists that started a revolution could be considered criminals. Our history books call them patriots, but at the time they were criminals under English law. I also doubt that many of those sent to "Oz" got a fair trial, nor did they commit crimes worthy of such a punishment.uber73 wrote:

Yes, Australia was founded as a prison for Britain but people kept moving there, (workers for prisons, also there was good land, (on the outskirts, not in the desert.) Also after the prisoners were released, rather than risk a trecherous and long journy back to their homes, they set up new lives in Australia.
Australians are proud of this heratige(?) - their folk hero, Ned Kelly was a murdering bank robber-type. Most people are really happy if they can trace their roots back to being convicts.
However, a lot of the crime that people were imprisoned for was pretty pathetic. Stuff like petty theft, (mostly for survival) but there were a few murderers and rapists etc.

personally i dont really care - its all about the present (although our history sux - only extends back to 1788). we have a stable economy, do well at sport, plent of opportunities, good beaches...

In Australia - the average of women quality is higher than France (only country otha than America + Figi ive been to). In France most people are just average, whereas in Australia there are drop-dead-gorgeous ones evrywhere (unfortunately that average is dragged down by the fatties )
