You must have not been as worried as usual then...

The problem with tying EVERYTHING to global warming (including Irish drinking habits) is it gets muddled - what to/what not to believe?  Not helpful when you're trying to make a case for a specific course of action...trying to determine which action will have the most impact.

It's a very real problem with issue of global warming, the muppets and people with political agendas of all sides of the issue distorting the facts to fit their cause. It's surprisingly difficult to dig out the reallity of global warming from the mainstream and fringe media. If you're lucky enough to have access to the scientific literature you can spend some time scratching the surface of the data out there, but that's a technically difficult and time consuming task.

Bush's ranch in texas is "green," look it up.  It's your champion, your hero of global warming, Al Gore, whose house is dispicably energy-guzzling.  You are an ignoramus, who does what you are told without questioning, who figures MSNBC and CNN are always right, and who can't stand the right wing because of what the left wing told you about them.

Enjoy your puny 55mph shoebox size "green" car.

this is typical.  The poor countries can't help themselves, let's place the more advanced countries on the accountability list for them.  let's make US pay for what the Chinese are doing.

I say, if you're a tree-hugger, YOU pay for what the people who think this is a load of crap do.  I go to church ever week and i put money in the basket.  I don't ask YOU to put money in the basket for me.  Why should you demand that I put money in your green basket for you?  You fucking take care of it and leave me alone.

I think it's because your church only affects you whereas climate change, behind which lies the balance of scientific opinion, affects everyone. The lack of shared responsibility is akin to giving someone cancer via passive smoking.

Seriously, though, everyone loves blaming things on Global Warming, because they're the one probably wreaking it.

ahh, but my church prays for the salvation of EVERYONE.  so my church affects you, too.

your church of the tree you think is affecting everyone, i think you're full of shit.  this is a null argument.

edit: and that "scientific" opinion is really not that objective.  One does not have to dig hard to find research opposing man-caused global warming.  the problem with the tree huggers is they only hear one side of the story, then dismiss the other.

Typical Christian drivel. I don't need any fucking church praying for my human-fabricated 'salvation'. Your so called 'salvation' holds no value whatsoever, unlike combating climate change. As for climate change: you can pick out reports contradicting pretty much anything anyone tells you about anything, the thing about climate change is that the distinct BALANCE OF OPINION lies heavily with the 'man-made' climate change theory, i.e. if one were to take all of the evidence available together one would come to the logical rational conclusion that climate change is being driven, at least in part, by mankind. Your tree hugger taunt is laughable too especially given that I'm working on a project that entails ripping through 130km of countryside with a 400 kV overhead powerline at the moment.

Have you noticed any changes in the global weather situation lately? ...because I can tell you a lot of us have, some fairly big changes (I think Sergeriver had a thread on this a while back). That's a fairly tangible sign, a sign that many scientists have interpreted as part of the overall pattern of global climate change. Now you're telling me that you feel no sense of irony sitting in church praying to a 'God' who never gives us any tangible signs of his existence while at the same time choosing to ignore tangible signs, which many scientists have built into theories ...or do you just put the weather down to God himself too?

Well as other have pointed out it´s a fact that Ice ages and Global warmings come and goes on our beloved planet earth. So lets say we do speed this process up now by poluting the air with Co2 well.... does that realy matter in 1000 years? the warming will come anyway lets deal with it now if it´s already here. ( human-caused or not )

I´m just disgusted listening to politicans ( mostly ) taking advantages over the situation to score points for themselvers Yikes!

You might actually want to check the links, I skimmed over it quickly and noticed all the links are environment related... How does that count as "everything"? The environment is greatly effected by global temperatures, as they define weather patterns and such. Tbh the site you posted is pretty lame...

Some of the fucking people who feel sooo morally superior that they refuse to contribute a fucking thing to a possible solution to global warming make me sick.

It's truly pathetic, that they refuse to do the most simple things just because of inconvenience.

You know, i joined these forums for the D&ST.  I liked the respect for different arguments.

Anyone who has read any of my posts on religion knows that I argue my religion logically, down-to-earth, and respectfully.  I do not deserve you calling what I said "religious supremacy."  I was merely pointing out the fact that just because someone thinks something doesn't affect everyone doesn't mean that it doesn't.

Where's the respect?

It has been said that the whole man-made global warming movement is more of a religion than a political or environmental movement.  Read this.

There is more out there.  For you to say so disrespectfully "put up or shut up" simply illustrates your lack of desire to learn two sides of an argument.  The arguments against global warming are all over this forum, if not all over the web, and you damn well know it.  Your issue, spark, is that you cannot accept that there are two sides to an argument.

who said anything about being morally superior?  holy crap man, learn how to have a civil debate!  You're the one taking offense to my "moral superiority" when all I did was say that the Catholic Church prays for the salvation of all souls.

You're taking this way out of hand, dude.  Chill.  Seriously.
