Oblivion is better than any girlfriend.
So what extremely nerdy things have you seen/heard.
This is an example of Geekiness, not Nerdiness.

Nerdiness relates to 'smart' subjects/topics, or something that you'd need to be very knowledgeable in.
Geekiness relates to either being knowledgeable in a fictional setting, or liking the fictional setting to the point of it becoming a social issue.

Now the fact that I noticed your mistake and explained the difference makes me a nerd.

Okay, you just won, thats the nerdiest thing I've seen

and look at that, while trying to be a smart arse you were wrong

While the term is nearly synonymous with dork or geek in reference to passionate intellectual pursuits and social ineptitude, nerd has the added implication of being affable and amusing

Doesn't mean it's the same.

Generally, Dorks are social rejects, Nerds are the smart people, and Geeks are people who live for fantasy. Of course, not many people fit into just one of these definitions. The people you described in the Oblivion forums are both Dorks and Geeks.

You said the last bit like it was gonna save you.

I'm gonna go with yeah, but there is a fine line. Me n my mates will often gather at someones house with beers n some spirits, a few girlfriends and spend the night drinkin playin on consoles and ordering take-aways. Then watch films until the mornin. Actually that sounds vastly different, and is immensely fun

Yea, we stay up late playing poker and we have a few drinks. After poker we play HALO, I really do not find it nerdy at all, it's just fun.

people who own and listen to the Metroid Prime soundtrack or Halo (1, 2 or 3) soundtrack.
people who play guitar hero like it's serious business.
people who use the word "Fag" as an insult.
people who use the word "Gay" as an insult.
People who get mad at you for asking questions about the game you're playing, no matter how obvious the answer should be.
people who hack.

okay, and what does it say the difference is? Nerd just has the added humour.

No other difference
It doesn't say it is the same either.

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. (IE; video games)
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

What part of this are you not understanding?

Mate, lets all just come up with definitions and call the other one stupid

Come to think of, do you know what synonymous means? Then it tells you the difference, so I suggest you shush before you humiliate yourself further.

Good day to you sir

Okay you're determined to make youself look stupid clearly.

I've already pointed out numerous times that it points out the difference is that nerd is seen as more humorous. Sorted

And I'm trying to show that there is more to it than that. As you can see from the definitions that I have provided, there really is more than the 'Nerds are funnier' difference.

I also commend you on actually arguing this out with me - you're the first one to try
