A google search brought up http://www.nzpost.co.nz/, which I guess is their version of the "Royal Mail"
Supposedly, sending a letter to another continent, is anything less than $5 guessing that is in the New Zealand dollar, a google conversion told me 1 NZ $ = ~0.8 USD.
Basically- if i've done it right, it only costs him £2.50 max.
