Can anyone link these for me from a store? Are they a U.K. only thing? Newegg, Bestbuy, Walmart, Compusa, etc has no "Medusa" headphones of any sort.

I am currently using a "Plantronics Ultimate Performance Over-the-Head Headset with Noise-Canceling Microphone - Black
Model: .AUDIO 350" http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp … 8084389772

Which are awesome for the price... But as I use headphones 99% of the time, I would be interested in upgrading to a NICE set of headphones instead of upgrading to a surround sound system like I once planned.

If anyone has any suggestions that are particularly nice in the $50-$100 range, please feel free to let me know. I have heard a lot of arguments saying 5.1 and surround sound doesn't actually work in headphones, but I hear a lot of arguments saying it does...

Second one looks far more comfortable and is 5.1 sound. So I would get the second one.

I can enable mic boost through my x-fi software anyways ...

I have, The problems from the V1 are still apparent. The right ear cuts out ALL the time, its really frustrating.

But they're still good when they work.

Sennheiser PC161. It's like... you'll never want anything else again. It's really worth each and every penny you spend on it, especially in combination with a good sound card.

i think you've convinced us andy - just so u know i've also just bought an x-fi extreme gamer sound card a few weeks ago

just a few more questions if ya don't mind :

1. Which set do you own?
2. How do they respond to bass? Ie. can you listen to heavy rock music, DVD explosions and in-game sounds well?
3. Are the 161's £10 better than the 151's?
4. Do they use an audio/mic jack or USB?

Thanks again

mitch
1. PC151
2. Very nicely indeed - superb clarity across the range
3. Yes, if you can get the 161
4. audio/mic jack - better clarity than over USB, you see (and damn, your sound card would be a waste if it's USB)

But it looks like you're going to go for the Icemat... *sigh*

All the best with whatever you end up having - in the end it's personal preference because the Icemat and Sennheiser headphones are great products!

Best headset I've ever owned by far. The sound quality is truely amazing. I have a Fatal1ty Pro edition X-Fi card and have this headset hooked up with optical sound... hard to describe the clarity and crystal clear sound these things produce... plus the rumble effect is a nice edition (When bass is at an audio level that the human ears can't detect, it vibrates).

Nope, They didn't "break" the contacts between the top band and right ear got worse. I didn't even take them apart.

My friend had some aswell, did the same thing.

I'm sure someone has a positive story about the 5Hv2's but I really honestly don't

Hey guys,

Ok i may soon spend only around £35 on a new headset.

I currently use  a logitech precision headset  - http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/4779/precisionbf5.jpg

I also recently bought and x-fi extreme gamer sound card (if that influences the decision?)

So do i go with an :

Icemat Siberia Headset with mic - http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/1930/241606ajp5.jpg

or

Speed-link medusa 5.1 progamer Headphones - http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/6854/565170aos7.jpg

Or recommend a different headset entirely?

Many thanks,

mitch

If anyone has the icemat headphones and mic could you let us know how far away you are from the mic, where you've mounted it, and if your voice can still be heard sufficiently over ts/vent/VOIP in-game?

Thanks again
I have the Icemats, they are great. I could even hear a guy breathing half the way across the map with these, and I don't even have a sound card (well, it's on board sound). That's not an exaggeration.
