Personally, I'd go for 600+, just to be on the safe side.
If u have the money and have nothing better to spend it on then ya maybe get something around 700w, but u still should be fine
Did I say 700W?
No I did not.
Lets, do a little comparison:
Make/Model | Power | Price (on dabs.com (inc VAT)) |
---|
Antec Neo HE ATX 500W PSU | 500W | £56.25 |
Antec Phantom 500 Watt Power Supply | 500W | £71.38 |
Antec TRUEPOWER TRIO 650W Active PSU | 650W | £67.95 |
| | |
---|
Akasa Ultra quiet 80+, 500watts PSU with Black 12cm Fan | 500W | £60.92 |
Akasa Dual Fan Active PFC 550W PSU Quad 12V Rails 2xPCIE | 550W | £76.37 |
Akasa Active PFC 650W PSU with Sanyo Denki Fan | 650W | £88.41 |
Akasa Dual Fan Active PFC 650W PSU Quad 12V Rails 2xPCIE | 650W | £92.81 |
| | |
---|
OCZ Technology StealthXStream 600W Active PFC | 600W | £49.94 |
OCZ Technology 600W Active PFC GameXStream SLI Ready | 600W | £57.46 |
| | |
---|
Only with Akasa is there much of a price difference going from 500+ to 600+ and the OCZ's are cheaper all round.
The question you've got to ask yourself is this - do I want to spend as little as possible on a PSU that is
just enough, or should I spend a relatively small amount more to get the peace of mind of having a PSU that is
more than enough?
Your PCs PSU is it's heart - the organ that provide the power and energy it needs to operate - and if it were to die, it could well take the rest of your PC with it (I know, unlikely, but it is possible).
Personally I'd go for
peace of mind over saving £20.
