I finally got my new computer, but I don't know how to get my files to it.

So how do I do it?

network.  or removable hdd.  or you could just take out your hdd from your old computer and set it as a slave in your new computer and transfer the files that way.

You need software like Nero to do it.

Get a switch.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6833124005
Start both comps and connect both to switch.
Go to "My Network Places" on the new comp and you should see your old comp. Click it and alll your files are there to copy to your new comps hdd.

Physically moving the drive into a new system is probably the best way to do it. Theres no other way, beside a purpose made device for doing HDD dumps, but even that involves reconnecting it yourself. best bet is to hook it into another comp that already has a bootable HDD with windows on it, booting it up (while remembering to go into the bios and detect the new drive) and using windows or w/e OS you use to copy from the old drive to the new. from there burn it, dump it, transmit it, w/e just move the data.

edit: and by "best", I mean least expensive provided you have access to another comp already. if not, then yea, go the network route.

Do you just need to copy your files, the ones in folders, or do you want an exact copy of your system including the registry so your applications will still work?

How about through file-sharing? Wireless or not.

Go to a computer shop and ask for a direct connect Ethernet cable so you can network your PC's, they will know what you want. Plug one end into your new PC and the other end to your old PC (ie.Network ports, Ethernet Ports). Boot your PC's up, wait about 10 to 15 Min's for it to establish the network connections to both PC's, Make sure you go and change the drive sharing facility's, so's you are able to transfer the files to the new PC.
Hope this helps, if not i suggest you buy a book for dumb fucks er i mean beginners.

This is called a Crossover Cable.  Instead of the standard "straight through" ethernet cable.  If you want to network the two pc's together for the transfer then use a crossover cable.  Otherwise, any standard means of file copying will work, cd-r, usb flash drive, hell if it's small enough (under 1.44 MB) use a floppy.  I myself would set the drive to slave and install it in the new machine.  Much easier, plus it always nice to have it in there in case you want to take your time moving stuff over.

Easiest way is to network the two computers.

It's not that hard, just make sure they both have the same workgroup name.

How the fuck can you not be glad about knowing the machine that sits in front of you, or not even being bothered to find out a little bit more to help you along, people have been trying to help you out but all they get are negative response's, that sound to hard, to technical, to difficult got anything easier for me to try.                         .YES, SELL THE PC AND BUY A FUCKING CONSOLE.
