Someone resurrected this thread last night and now it seems there is a good reason to do so. I hesitated to post this here for fear that ya thought I was trying to raise the dead but I think this thread is exactly where the following goes.


After 17 pages of  the race card and double standards I found this on CNN, taken from an article about Michael Vicks dog fighting charges:

"Dr. R.L. White Jr. accused the government of "piling on." "There's a penalty in football for piling on," White told reporters. "After a player has been tackled and somebody piles on, they're penalized for unnecessary roughness.

"Today, the NAACP blows the whistle and warns the powers that be that you are piling on." "

OK so here is my question: Just exactly how and when did this become a RACE issue warranting NAACP intervention?? AND where the hell was the NAAWP when Lance Armstrong needed them when everyone was "piling on" him for juicing? No race issue there apparently., so why is Vicks case a race issue all of a sudden?

Reminds me of when Kobe was in trouble for those rape charges. I remember some black correspondent on ESPN saying he hoped Kobe got off fair because he was in a predominently white neighborhood. He was already accusing the jury of being racist before the trial had even begun.

That last sentance is insulting, are you implying that every single black person 'robs you, carjacks you and shoots you'? That's a horribly insulting generalisation ...don't tar the peace loving black community with the same brush as the gang bangers and scumbags.

As for the stuff about Black colleges and Black Entertainment TV, that's a fair enough point but seen as the black population are not in a dominant position over the Government or society at large it is not as much of an issue as if they were a majority group exerting their culture over a minority group.

Wow, how about fast forwarding to 2007 and leave the 19th century and slavery behind. As a matter of fact I am all for paying any slave restituiton for their treatment by our govt. Oh wait, they all died out about 120 years ago.

To the point of your second paragraph, no it is not saying ALL blacks shoot rob or carjack us. It is simply saying WHEN those events occur it is a crime, and it is. But when those events occurs to a black person it is a HATE crime and racially motivated, which as you know now, is supposed to carry a stiffer penalty. Personally I thought ALL crime was a hate crime.

What I do not understand and you guys can't seem to defend is this.

As a person saying that everyone should be held to the same standard is the least racist position to hold, yet you call me a racist for having it.

You guys insist that the double standard is ok or deny its exisitance when it has clearly been proven, and think it isn't racist. Then you call me a racist again.

My last point about colleges and TV etc. was not intended to sound like my own view but the attitude of society in general as it is now. I don't agree with the idea of affirmative action, yes things should be done to help revitalise run-down areas and so called 'ghetto' communities but this doesn't mean having to apply double standards throughout every structure in society. A minority group will prosper faster in a fair and balanced (sounds like FOX News lol) society rather than one that panders to it as pandering encourages laziness and stagnation.

I know what your post said and I responded to it on in my first paragraph, the rest was, just as you did, speaking in generalities toward the accepted behavior of society and those that posted in this thread that are guilty of what I described.

Alright, I'm 'white' (of celtic/gaulish/gothic/norman decent) and I find dark skin a turn off. When I say dark skin I mean African/NT aboriginal dark. olive/deep tan/asian skin tones and such are fine... but I just don't like chicks with really dark skin... Tyra Banks is as dark as a girl can be with me still finding them attractive...

Problem is the very lowest income brackets are dominated by the indigenous people of the central Australian and remote Northern communities.

racism, just like any other form of abuse is a two-part affair. First, you have the "racist" and the "victim". And just like many other forms of inter-personal abuse, the ppl involved, unless very careful, WILL switch roles at one point. Just like how an abused child will one day abuse his own children, ppl who have been the victim of racism will with a high degree of certainty, return the favor to some other as-of-yet undiscriminated against person. Thusly, the pattern keeps itself going.
The only way to break the chain is to rise above it. And I don't mean in a smarmy self-righteous "I'm gonna teach you a lesson" way. I'm not a religious person, but that jebus dude may have hit it on the mark with "turn the other cheek". Ppl discount the effectiveness of this policy because they are unable to perceive the effects of it in a long term manner. But truly I believe this is the only way for a society to purge itself of such ridiculousness.
It just seems to me that alot of the racism I see in effect is being perpetrated by individuals who were once discriminated against themselves. This does not absolve them from guilt tho, as their own ignorance to the bigger picture is what dooms them to repeat this cycle.

I've been called cracka numerous times, and always thought it was kind of funny. It's never been in a threatening way, and I never had to worry about the person calling me a cracka harming me.

I'm sure if I were alone in the countryside and got called a nigger, it'd be a little worried though.
