Ok as the Title says if you have seen a cool/good film that might be less well known than the usual blockbusters, then if you like post about it here and if possible give it a quick review, links and a score out of 5.

Heres my first quick Review........

Last night I finally got round to watch a film called the 9th Company.

Heres a link to the films website - http://www.9thcompany.com/

My thought on this movie, well I can safely say its a cross between Full Metal Jacket and Platoon only in Russian, its set in the Afghanistan war in the 80s and its really interesting to see this conflict from the Russian point of view.

The only main problem I found with this film, its a little bit long, but the acting, action and budget seem really good and they must have had Russian military help in making it, because of all the hardware including tanks, planes, Apc's etc involved.

I give it overall a 3.5 out of 5 well worth a watch.

I did Film all through high school so I should know a bunch of lesser-known films.
Thumbs up to Schwarzelungen for 'No Mans Land' already mentioned.
Little known Aussie films: the comedy, 'You Can't Stop The Murders', and the serious, 'The Tracker', are awesome.
The German films 'Goodbye Lenin!' and 'Der Edukators' were great too.
Some Korean film I saw last year 'Tae Guk Gi' ('Brotherhood Of War') if you love your war movies.
Um, I think I've gone on too much. Anyone seen these movies? If you haven't, see them!

Freeway, I found it hilarious. Reese Witherspoon's best ever performance by a long way.

I.D. is, in my opinion, the best ever film about football violence.

Romeo is Bleeding, Gary Oldman as a corrupt cop.

I've still yet to know what was going on in that film after the beach bit with all the helos.
Platoon is a good film and Full Metal Jacket. There's also another film call Saints and Soldiers, or something similar, good WW2 film.

I can see it appealing to the English here. What with what the country is turning into.

Equilibrium.
source: Wikipedia
Following an apocalyptic Third World War, the strict government of the dystopian city-state Libria has eliminated war by suppressing all human emotion. In the monochromatic and sedated society, artifacts from the old world (works of art and music that may evoke some emotion) are destroyed and the population is required to take sedatives. Grammaton Cleric Preston, a man trained to locate and arrest those guilty of feeling emotions, finds himself abandoning the drug and experiencing outlawed feelings. As he struggles to conceal his feelings from his superiors, colleagues, and family, Preston finds himself drawn into a sinister world of double-crossings and lies, and becomes an unwitting pawn in a sophisticated plot which ultimately changes the repressed society forever.

Ok here's a few that I thought didn't get the recognition that they should.

Open Range -western based.  Good story true to the days of freerange cattlemen of the American West  - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0316356/

The Jack Bull - western based as well.  Very good story about executing one man's justice in the "old west" when the law wouldn't give it. - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0171410/

The Boondock Saints - (thinking man's action movie) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0144117/

A Midnight Clear - Story of WWII buddies sent to guard and recon a position for the ranks of the US army (near the Arden Forrest) - http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/midnight_clear/
