More details would be highly appreciated
This happened to me a while back ago, but it would happen when I would try connecting to a server.
I re-installed it with all the patches and it worked fine again.

I have the same nickname in BF2 that I use here on forum. So I installed BF2142 yesterday and typed it in the login screen together with password, but the dot in my nickname didn't type itself in that screen, so I registered slightly different nick and password but when I clicked "OK" at the bottom of the registration form, the "CD Key Not Valid" message appeared. The nickname is registered, as I've received the confirmation e-mail, but I cannot enter the game because of that message.
I haven't installed any patches or something else above the game yet.
