My PC has a virus well hidden in the system32 files. It is quiet a pain. I've done many scans with both Windows live care and AVG anti-spyware. I need to know what is the best, free, kickass, antivirus program that I can download that can find and completely destroy the virus?
Why isn't AVG working?
I've been reccomended Avast! by a lot of people.
It works, but every time i run it and delete the virus it shows up again when I scan again.Ryan wrote:

Well...first off, you can't use anti-spyware to get rid of a virus...
Download AVG Anti-virus. In my opinion, it's the best free one out there.

Unplug your computer from the internet, then try the scan and get rid of it again. See if that works.Superior Mind wrote:

Sounds like a self-renaming virusSuperior Mind wrote:

My dads laptop have had one, he had to reinstall all.
OK do you have a name for this virus, does it show up on your windows task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL) if you can see some strange .exe file search on this website www.processlibrary.com that will tell you if the .exe is malicious or not, when you do find the virus in your task manager then go to this website www.bleepingcomputer.com USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION to find your virus and there will be help on that site for all your virus removal needs in fact everyone should bookmark that site it is one of the most useful on the net.
As for a virus program try NOD32 there is a free version out there it is one of the best around http://www.eset.com/ .

Ok this worked for me when I had a virus I couldn't get rid of.
1. Turn off System Restore.
2. Reboot in Safe mode
3. Run all your anti virus programs
4. Delete "Not quarantine" anything they find.
5. Reboot as Normal and Switch System Restore back on.
6. Run your Anti Virus again to be sure its gone.
If this doesn't work then I am out of Ideas.
Good Luck

What virus is it?
My way of avoiding such situations is reformatting every two months
I recommend Avast or ZA
-konfusion

Use nod32 in safe mode to kill anything virus related. Best there is.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
yeah what about naming the file that keeps returning ergo the name of the virus ^^

A long long time ago, I thought I could get rid of my virus in System 32 files simply by deleting them all.Superior Mind wrote:

...Yea, I spent about 5 hours on the phone with a guy from Gateway fixing that.
I've used this for 2 years - no problems. Love the software - not a lot of overhead / interference / bi-tri daily updates / easy config / virus and trojan free for 2 years.max wrote:

Well I am running in safe mode right now and I am trying out some of your ideas. I will report back in a few.
Edit: The 640 X 480 resolution in safe mode is lame :\.

If that fails, I have never been let down by Kaspersky. This link will get you a 30 day full function trial.

will not ask you where you got the virus but seriously for me....the only time when i get a virus was when i go to a shady porn or game hack site. lol i get a computer virus equavalent of STDS
Some of the viruses found were:
Trojan.Small.oa
Trojan.Small
Worm.Zhelatin.al
Worm.Zhelatin.ap
Worm.Zhelatin.aa
The rest are medium risk tracking cookies.
Btw, I didn't get the virus. This computer was my dad's girlfriends, daughters, and she got the virus from downloading ridiculous amounts of shit from torrents. So this isn't my gaming PC, it's just the PC I use at my dads house.
