Oh man... so many memories...  Thanks for the Whitesnake link...

How about:

Skid Row - 18 and Life, from the album Skid Row, 1989

Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild, from the album Skid Row, 1989

Alice in Chains - Rooster, from the album Dirt, 1992

Mötley Crüe - Girls, Girls, Girls, from the album Girls, Girls, Girls, 1987

Mötley Crüe - Kickstart My Heart , from the album Dr. Feelgood, 1989

Van Halen - Hot for Teacher, from the album 1984, 1984... yummy

Van Halen - Right Now, from the album For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, 1991 -- possibly one of the best videos ever made

David Lee Roth - Just Like Paradise, from the album Skyscraper, 1988

Bon Jovi - Runaway, from the album Bon Jovi, 1984 -- one of their best songs IMO, good album

Bon Jovi - You Give Love a Bad Name, from the album Slippery When Wet, 1986 -- great album

Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine, from the album New Jersey, 1988 -- bonus points if you recognize the fat coke head... anyone my age knows that voice anywhere...

Warrant - Heaven, from the album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich, 1989 - How many times did we hear this song at Jr. High and H.S. dances, lol... every single Friday after a home football game, that's how often.  Good example of the power ballad from the 80's hair bands.

Warrant - Cherry Pie, from the album Cherry Pie, 1990

Holy crap, man.. Rap?  You realize gangster rap started in the 80s, right?  NWA was the first but I never had one of their albums.  If I recall correctly that's where Eazy, Dre,  Ice Cube and Ren all started out

I didn't listen to much back then, but these two stick out in my mind:

Eazy-E - album Eazy-Duz-It... my friends and I wore this tape OUT back in the day

Eazy-E - Boyz n the hood

Then of course Dre and Snoop put out The Chronic in '92...  This is an essential album, but surely everyone already has this.

Dr. Dre - Nuthin' But A G Thang

Dr. Dre - F**k Wit Dre Day
good stuff dont forget Public Enenmy not gansta but great!

Eazy E = lamer

The Psychiatrist in 6th grade group.
The Teacher in 10th grade homeroom.
The asshole in the special ed office who said i was just in denial about my sexual preferences during an interview with me about my behavior against the gay students in school.(He touched my ass he deserved that bloody nose)

So spec when will you come out?

Hair bands. HAIR BANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How fucked up would you be to think Bon Jovi is MUSIC?????????????

Punk started in the mid-seventies BECAUSE of this type of Mega-rock fuckin rubbish.

In the early 80's punk had developed into its own genre; The Clash, The Jam, The Buzzcocks, and in the States The Dead Kennedys and Black Flag.

If it wasn't for punk, grunge would not have occurred, and many bands these days borrow riffs from these guys.........

Moron.  Music is music, regardless of your like or dislike of it.  The OP asked for examples of 80s music.  Bon Jovi clearly is an 80s icon.

But since we're giving opinions now on each other's musical taste...

Punk sucks.  I've never met a punk fan that actually liked music.  They're losers that console themselves by explaining away how it's OK and cool to be "different."  Yah, whatever.  You sound like one of them, actually.  That said I still wouldn't say it's not music even though it sucks huge donkey balls.

I like all kinds of music from country to rap, rock, blues, jazz, metal, ska, alternative, alt-country (Uncle Tupelo!), bluegrass, you name it.  But punk is definitely NOT on that list.  It's shit and anyone with a conscience will admit it's just noise to drink, fight or f*ck to.

Grunge surely developed from punk.... It's what happened when punk got a soul, some depth and some good sound.

kthxbye
