Hey guys, I have a little Dilemma here, you see, I'm going to be here in my home country (El Salvador) until November, and although I have a decent PC it has the crappiest Vid card, it's 16mb... it's really old, just check the specs:

*AMD Athlon XP1800+ 1.15GHz
*Windows XP Pro w/SP.2
*576mb SDRAM PC133 (133Mhz)
*16mb Integrated vid card
*unknown motherboard.

So, I need a video card that will run Battlefield 2 on medium or low settings nicely without any problems and a New motherboard for the Vid. Card.
I was thinking of a Radeon 9600 Pro. But I'm open to ANY recommendations you can give me. Since it's going to be for a  few months the limit will be $100+$15 (give or take) shipping, so I really need help.

I'll be buying from http://www.newegg.com/

Thanks guys.

Kind of a stupid question, but will my SDRAM fit the memory slots on this motherboard and will my processor fit in it too?:

I guess I'll have to buy a 512mb DDR400 RAM sick for this card if my SDRAM doesn't fit.

You can't get a new comp for $100 that will run BF2 (on low let alone medium).  Sorry mate.  Save up more and then buy some parts.

Dammit, I guess nothing will work, I don't want to buy a desktop pc here in El Salvador because my primary pc where I play BF2 is in the states so I don't want to shell on a new desktop, meh I'll just buy that new Dell XPS laptop and put an end to this drama, haha, thanks anyways guys.

Has it got AGP?

If so, you could get a better video card.

And will it support any AthlonXP?

'cos you might want to try to get hold of a better CPU.

Oh, and another gig of ram or so.

There is no real point in updating that rig until you get more cash for a more serious upgrade! Save up some cash until you can afford a decent system, heh.

Rather spend those 100$ for beer than wasting it on any upgrade for that system. Sorry.

Coming from someone that has a bmw z3 roadster, 2 other bmw's and 4 monster gaming rigs.

Some people actually have to save money to buy a pc slayer.

Anyways save you money to buy a new rig mate.

You got a valid point there, however I work at Dell here in ES, nothing big, just at a call center and I get a sweet discount on all computers and accessories . I just wanted to upgrade this PC a bit instead of going through the hassle of buying another computer.

Any card that will fit in nicely that could run BF2 decently that anyone knows of?

I don't want to shell money for a Desktop that I'll have to leave here, I already have a great PC over in the sates (I'm returning in November), but if it won't run BF2 then screw it, I'll have to get the XPS laptop :S... meh... that sucks, I have the money but i'm being cheap XD.

No point in upgrading. Also, gaming laptops = no no. I'm sorry, but they are hardly upgradable and generally run out pretty crap. Go for something like an HP DV6000 with a 7400GO. It'll play Half-Life 2 on all high widescreen 1280x800, but a laptop gaming card is generally a pretty good time to say: /fail.

It'll be outdated in 3 or 4 months, no doubt!
