I found out a while ago that the only reason that deleted files are very easily recovered is because of the FBI and the sort.
They have made it compulsory that only 5 parts per file are actually physically deleted when you click that "delete" button.
Which, basically, means that only the file name gets deleted from Windows explorer and any other "public explorer".
So, if you get a computer nerd with a program that can undo that file name deletion, then voila - all your files are visible again.
