Lot's of opinions but I don't think anyone knows except EA, and they're not telling !
I liked the idea someone posted a few posts back.
Rather than advertising Tampon they should be giving us at least a message saying "WE KNOW".
Since I'm a capitalist Yank I have to believe they will be back. As mentioned EA makes plenty of money off the servers, they're not going to want to lose that income.
I just find it very frustrating that EA isn't telling us what the problem is even on their OWN forums!
For a company as large as they are it's unforgivable that this has gone on for over a week now.

I just love the way the above message from EA understates things like, "which is affecting several players" and "during this brief period" ... these people display such arrogance when dealing with a powerful repeat purchase group like us! It's funny how EA thinks it's the future of gaming when really it's just like a big elephant in the jungle- everytime it moves things get busted up! No info = no respect.
I also wish they would keep is informed how far they are on their repairs...
Like the BF2s.com site owner did some time ago.
For example (I do not know about the stat server architecture, just guessing):
*Day 0: Stats are down
*Day 1: We are aware of the stats being down and are searching for reason...
*Day 2: Reason found: 2 hard drives corrupted, approx. 200,000 player accounts affected, trying to restore with backups...
*Day 4: Stats-master server is up and running again with backups from June 14th, waiting for the slave servers to apply changes...
*Day 6: Stats are completely synced again, have fun playing...

Why couldn't our stats be held on our computers and not a server. If there is stats padding then what's the use? (I may not understand stats padding). Seems this wasn't thought out very well.

P.S. Everyone on Bf2s.com who is posting here, lets not get too upset about this whole thing, as getting angry isn't going to make EA/Gamespy sort this out any quicker. Plenty of people have hassled them, all we can do it wait and hope.
Afterall, we have come to expect this sort of thing anyway, so whats new?

Starting around the 13th-15th, we saw a sharp increase in soldiers reporting that their stats, awards, and rank are not updating. This is under heavy investigation since, as you know, the ranking system is a central feature of the game.

I previously asked you for server information, and that was incredibly helpful. IGN and our teams are reviewing *huge* amounts of data from the RSPs to pinpoint the issue. We have found that it is not the stats server itself as we have seen normal processing for a large number of soldiers. So we are now digging deeper into the data and servers that report to the stats server to follow the issue down to the source and, ultimately, get the rest of you and your servers working the way they should.
