What about bullet drop? Does BF2 have bullet drop over distances? If so how much?

Yea, but nobody knows exactly how much, but it only really matters for sniper rifiles, since most other guns aren't accurate enough at that range.

THANK YOU. sticky it, wiki it, people shouldnt be wasting their time being utterly deceived by a game. it should be about reflexes and intelligence, not privileged information.

This thread isn't even on the first page as i post my reply. You know none of the threads ahead of it contain any information that could touch this thread in usefulness to the average BF2 player.
It has to be a wiki, im not a mod who can sticky stuff

And here I thought there were several types of sight randomizations for the entire game???

My PKM for instance favors the lower right hand side.  Not where it was shown on this page.

You may need to download and zoom in on the images to use them to their full potential. Ever wondered why X, Y, or Z gun sucks? Well it probably doesn't, many of the guns in BF2 have very misleading iron sights. I didn't bother with sniper rifle scopes or the g36e because i really dont feel like encouraging either and i know that todd angelo and jemme already posted marked sniper scopes for these purposes. I wasnt that enthusiastic about including unlocks but since i was curious about a few, i ended up including most of them.

I simply superimposed a screenshot (1280x1024) of each weapon zoomed and unzoomed w photoshop, and then used the straight line tool to draw a full crosshair over the in-game unzoomed crosshair. I can guarantee you that the places I marked are within a pixel of each iron sight "sweet spot."

I don't feel like posting the G36E one, but i can say its a lot like the MG36. This is a big part of the reason why people that practice on the G36E end up sucking at the AK101 and M16. If you line up an AK101 or M16 exactly the way you would a G36E, then every single shot you fire will go directly over the targets head.

Ive posted these numerous times but since they are on topic here, also have a look at these sight pics. The difference is Nero drew them from memory based on what he thinks works best. The main difference you notice is how low he aims the AK101. I also tend to use it this way, and I believe the reason it works is that recoil after your first shot causes the next ones to land further above the labeled "sweet spot," so in reality you want to aim roughly where where Nero marks when you are spamming and go for the spot marked on mine with your first shots. I find the M16 has so much less recoil so that consecutive shots dont appear to cause as much climb and hence Neros drawing shows the placement much lower on the sight than the AK101.

With recoil what it is, I suggest referring to neros images for most of your vertical alignment and my images for horizontal alignment.

Originally it was that, but then I discovered that Dice messed up the unzoomed crosshairs too.

Look at the edit for the best possible view of each sight.

I again have problems with your method of working this out.

I have always believed that the Medic/ Assault guns are the same, but you have shown in your screen shots that they have different places to aim.

Upon looking in the games files, there is only one M16A2, AK-101, and AK-47, so how can they aim differently?

They use different images for iron sights so they line up with the center of the screen differently.

Woah! The new additions are...wow!
I always knew the assault / medic AR's felt different, especially the '47. It never feels the same on Great Wall and this is why.

I'd better get to work on a revised wiki....

Out of the whole game, there is only 1 (that I can think of) that is missing - and that is the EU's L85A2 (for assault class). And the PLA's bomber (Su-30). Other than that, top notch!

Heres a thought: are the HMG's on the DPV/HMMVW/Tank turrets different to the sights?

Done (I had just accidently not posted the L85a2 screen). If the SU-30 is the one from armored fury, then you can find it along with the J-10 screen (since, turns out, they have identical HUDs). I suppose I could do the EU jets...

I compared them. they are misaligned in the same way all unzoomed sights are:

https://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i149/kyleomalley/unzoomedcrosshairs2.png

The 0.50 cal turrets are still easier to aim because crosshairs close more tightly.

You really need to get away from infy whoring

Su-30 = PLA vanilla bomber jet (Daqing only) http://wiki.bf2s.com/vehicles/aviator/su-30
Q5 Fantan = PLA AF bomber jet http://wiki.bf2s.com/vehicles/aviator/q5

The only EF jet is the EuroFighter and that has the same HUD as the F15/F35/F/A-18.

Oh, and Ive put the L85A2 onto the wiki (and thats interesting actually as the scope seems fine when I use it )

I think you're wrong with the F35. The "sweet spot" is significantly lower with the F35's MG.

Sadly, the bullet drop in the game kind of ruins your hard work, and the deviation appears differently for every resolution, i find that aiming up 1 or 2 pixels from the target with the l96 on my laptop (1920x1200) is VERY VERY different from 1 or 2 pixels on my desktop @ 1280x1024...

But nice work.

So what? Who cares? Is anyone really going to bother really adjusting their aim for this?

For the MG36 and MR-444, yes, I think so.
Used that to my advantage last night with the MG36 and actually managed to consistently hit enemies with it.
