my 8800 GTS KO runs at like 60-70c idle with the side of my case on, and the fan on 60%. Download Rivatuner, and set the fan speed to 100%, will reduce temps on the card by about 10-15c.
i'd say get a decent water cooler or a bigger case so that it got more room to ventilate, because that case is properly to crammed for all this stuff.
Not that I'm trying to be too anal retentive, but after doing some research for my new build, I believe that silenx fans have had troubles with under performing compared to their given specifications.TheEternalPessimist wrote:
Best fans you can buy are Silenx, high CFM and much much much quieter than anything that matches them for air flow, bit more pricy though.
I believe the current rankings are something like Panaflo, Scythe, Silenx, and Sunon. Something like that. The prices are all about the same, so really most people are more picky about noise/performance than price, although some people just want it to look good - hence the Silenx wins there.
Anyways, to the OP, do what everyone said here, more case fans, drop 80mm's and go to 120mm (get a new case if you have to). Also like one guy said, get rivatuner to get your fan near 100%. I believe 100% is really loud though. I am picking up my 8800 GTS tomorrow.

If you're not bothered about noise, Delta fans are pretty damn good for cooling.[CANADA]_Zenmaster wrote:

all i can say is stick a desk fan next to your comp dude - btw lucky bastard with a dx10 card
You ever sat by one? noise doesn't cover it lol. My dad's old diesel car is quieter, and I so wish I was exaggerating. Just look up delta fan on youtube, the vids are spot on to what the real thing is like.Bertster7 wrote:

@Zen
Fans CFMs are calculated in an air pressure controlled chamber, every fan performs below its CFM rating when put into a PC case simply because it's far from the ideal scenario created for it in an engineering lab.
EDIT: reckon you can find those fans you're talking about?
I hope that's a downward facing slot fan otherwise it's just stealing air from the GTX.

I know, they're a touch on the loud side. That's why I stipulated if he wasn't bothered about noise. They work well though, it's almost like having a windtunnel in your PC (and about the same volume).TheEternalPessimist wrote:

I decided that if in the even that the antec 900 doesn't come with a blue rear 120mm LED fan, I'm going to go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835129016 It's the exact same as the other fans... Saves money, and very good performance
Edit: What about putting in an additional side panel window fan?

I want to have a hurricane in my case

I wouldn't mention it as under-performing due to slight pressure differences in a case... users have regularly posted they are dissatisfied with the silenx fans of say a 54 CFM rating compared to a panaflo of 54CM... apples to apples. They put in a silenx fan of the same CFM, test it, then put in another brand of the same CFM in the same case and test it, low and behold the silenx's sometimes under perform terribly. The silenx's sometimes have a bad batch or whatever. Just put in Silenx review in google or check newegg and away you go. I stayed away from them in my new purchase and went with panaflo's and the default tri-cools from antec, which aren't as good as the panaflow, but being antec should be reasonable.TheEternalPessimist wrote:

You can buy any of the fan brands I mentioned at bigfootcomputers in Canada, one of the decent custom cooler retailers. Also try NCIX, they have better service, better prices, and better shipping, but sometimes don't have all the weird stuff that bigfoot does.
EDIT: one thing I want to say directly, is that it is all highly subjective and often comes down to personal preference and taste. Some reviewers get a bad batch or simply a bad design and therefore we often interpret it to mean that all brand x is bad, or all brand y is good etc. My outlook is to go with a brand that has sound engineering behind it and good reviews and decent prices. A few bad manufactures can happen to any brand, but I tend to stick with whatever the research shows is most reliable. I do know that panaflo fans are rock solid out of the bunch though.

Going by the image alone (I know images are often wrong) that's not the fan you get in an 900, the LED fans have a clear outer thingy and black blades (looks odd til u turn it on) means you get 3 beams of light across the blades and a glow round the edge, instead of just a big 'ol glow everywhere.ReDevilJR wrote:

I understand there are noobs on newegg, however 'Pros: Exactly matches the fans that come along with the Antec Nine Hundred Case. No screws required to install it on the case, although it comes with screws for those that have a different one.' Could you explain that again? And is there a fan you can buy separate that's closest to it if not exactly like it? (The Antec 900)TheEternalPessimist wrote:

Actually, they must have modded that case, because the link he gave me looks identical to my Antec 900 fans..TheEternalPessimist wrote:

Nice Setup, so the fan I was looking at is the same one as the antec 900? Would you recommend getting an extra fan for the side window?LT.Victim wrote:

Something slightly related... This is my PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 1c3grabb3r
Would that support an 8800GTX/Ultra just fine? Along with all the other components in the computer (NO SLI) It suits my 8800 GTS just fine

mine runs from high 50s to low 60s idle, gets over 70 while playin games and its being cooled by one 120mm fan from the side panel and a few 80mm fans from other sides
hmm my GTS killed my 500w PSU so I duno how that would work, Id get at least 600W just in case, depends of your other specsReDevilJR wrote:
