I Hate BF2 (game locking up ... )

So Sat morning I go to load up special forces to play a couple of rounds. Double click to join a server and the game locks up. No big deal I will just restart. Come back join another server and it locks up. All right so then I decide to repatch and see if that fixes anything. Nope same problem.

Ok to recap here is what I have done so far to no avail.
- Repatch
- Uninstall Reinstall
- System Restore
- Remove Profile
- Reformat and Install Windows

Beyond all of that nothing has worked. To reiterate my problem when I double click to join a server it just sits there, the only way I can get it out of it is to hit alt+f4.

Anyone who has a valid suggestion I am all for it.

Reformating didn't work ? omfg.. sorry I won't help you alot but if reformating didn't work I don't see what could make your game work.. did you check your CD (it might be a little bit broken) ? graphics card works well ? its drivers ?

yea, i just don't see why my cd would be the problem, but yea i am going to stuff a new drive in there to see if that works

Check your firewall and router settings and see if the bf2.exe is blocked.

Did you check your graph card and ram sticks ? If you reformated/reinstalled and it still doesn't work, it's probably hardware related.
Also check you internet connection...
€dit : what do you mean by "locks up" ? Does the image freeze or does it C2D ?

have you checked your GPU? Friend of mine had similar prob. just because of his GPU´s RAM wasnt working propperly

EDIT: checking the Help section it seems this problem happens to some more users. Let´s blame EA/Dice again huh?

more less just sits there like its about to start loading the maps, instead it does nothing, also the router is fine, firewall turned off.

Like dead_rac00n was suggesting, you have done most everything you can from a connection & software side (particularly with a clean OS install) ... it's time to start checking hardware for issues. Run memtest on your memory ... find a working graphics card and swap it in.

yea i will check that tonight, i just put a new graphics card in so we will see.

No loading and you just put in a new graph card ? I think you should investigate that way.

I guess you missed my post about 4 down from yours http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=76622 , but 3 other ppl and myself are having the same issues starting all last Saturday. I don't believe it is all of our PC's all at the same time. I've tried PB updates, others have reinstalled BF2 with no results so I would really not even consider reformatting your OS, but if you do and it works let me know. I believe it might be a PB server/client issue and it should be resolved soon. I can still get on some servers, but of course I can't get on to mine.

well its good to know i am not the only one, yea just random servers that will no connect. hopefully we can work together and resolve this.
