no, F.E.A.R. isn't scary. It tries too damn hard to be, sure it has some freaky moments but doesn't provide the same thrills as Doom 3Madhadda1 wrote:

If you ever get into a scary moment in a game, the best policy is to run in firing your gun on full auto at anything that moves. That gunfire will drown out any sudden noises and then by that time you can see whatever the hell was about to jump out, then just nail it.

F.E.A.R has a more subtle horror theme, Doom is just monsters jumping out at you. It's scary and gives you more of an adrenalyn rush, but F.E.A.R is the better horror game. It's creepy and thought-about whilst Doom is "BLEH!" kind of horror. I didn't like the fact that you couldn't have a gun and a torch out at the same time, that was a nasty touch. I found myself killing most enemies I ran into with my flashlight.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R I didn't find too scary, but then again I haven't been into reactor 4 yet.

doom 3 was unimpressive, and once you got the chainsaw and the monsters sole advantage (hand to hand) was lost, deeply dull.
Never played Doom, but FEAR is fucking scary. Not a jumping out kinda scary, but more of a creepy scary, ya know? It builds up the terror, and has a good storyline to boot.

Lame AI, boring weapons, wafer thin story...until I read a fan site and finally got an explanation to why everything was going on.
