4. Text Effects

Brushing wouldnt work in mine, and fancy text would simply distract the eye from the main feature.

No, don't download brushes - make your own. Check out some of the tutorials in the stickies (I might add gfxvoid.com to that) and I'm sure you will progress fast

You distorted it a bit when you reduced the size.
When you wanna re-size something in PS, go to Image - Image Size, then make sure constrain proportions is selected, it'll stop it going weird.

Both are 150px high. BTW it's usually a good thing to add a border to finish it off, I like to anyway.
Make a new layer and hit ctrl+a to select the whole layer and go edit - stroke, set it to 1px white. then set the layer to 'Overlay'. Takes 3 seconds.
You can barely see it on this one so it's probably not worth bothering with but bear it in mind on future ones.
